Guys & Bets (Episode 240): NBA, Three College Basketball and Two Soccer Picks

It’s a money-making Monday on Guys & Bets! Joe Osborne is on the run so Iain MacMillan joins Andrew Avery in the big seat to break down their favorite plays across the NBA, college basketball and soccer.

Iain kicks off the show with an NCAA basketball pick as No. 12 West Virginia hosts Texas. Each team comes into this game off a loss over the weekend. The Mountaineers surprisingly lost to Kansas State and the Longhorns fell to No. 6 Kansas. Iain points to some key numbers as he has a wager on the spread.

With his next pick, Iain stays in the NCAA for a “Joe Osborne watch party game.” It’s Weber State vs Portland State. Junior guard Holland Woods leads the way for the Vikings, averaging 18 points per game. Meanwhile, senior guard Jerrick Harding is the top scorer for the Wildcats, coming in at 20.5 points per game.

Finally for Iain, he’s got a wager as the NC State Wolfpack travel to Virginia to square off with the Cavaliers. If there is one thing we know, Virginia plays in low-scoring games. Their defense is top-notch and their pace of play isn’t exactly setting the world on fire. Iain’s bet here is on the total.

Next up, Ninja gets in on some NBA action. A Guys & Bets darling, the Memphis Grizzlies are at home to the New Orleans Pelicans. Initially this game would’ve matched up the top two picks in the 2019 NBA Draft, but Zion Williamson isn’t ready to return just yet. But the player selected after him, Ja Morant, is absolutely tearing it up as a rookie. Ninja’s play here is on the spread.

You knew Ninja would get you your footy picks for today as well. There is one match in Serie A that Ninja likes a wager on as Atalanta takes on SPAL in today’s lone match. Luis Muriel, Josip Ilicic and the rest of the Atalanta squad lead Serie A in scoring with 49 goals for. While they clearly outmatch their opponent, Ninja isn’t taking the easy way out on this bet.

Over in The Championship, it’s West Brom vs Stoke at The Hawthorns. These two squads met in November with West Brom winning 2-0. With Leeds having lost on Saturday to QPR, West Brom can extend its lead atop the table with a victory. The arrival of Michael O’Neil has helped this Stoke side, but will it be enough to pull out a victory today? Hear what Ninja has to say before you make your wager.

As always, the show wraps up with a Q&A session for our viewers, so if there’s anything you’ve always wanted to ask, you should be joining us live every weekday at noon ET on our YouTube channel!
