It’s time for the Friday episode of Guys & Bets and it’ll be Iain MacMillan and Andrew Avery in the chairs today and they’ll be joined by Harry Gagnon to sort out their bets across college basketball, NHL, XFL and soccer!
Ninja looks at today’s action in Bundesliga as Borussia Dortmund hosts Eintracht Frankfurt. Dortmund currently sits third in the Bundesliga while scoring the most goals in the league (59). Frankfurt, on the other hand, has turned it on since the new year. They are second in goal differential in that time span, and have the fifth-most goals in Bundesliga this season. The play is on the total.
Staying on the pitch, there is an important match in the EPL as Southampton hosts Burnley with the teams all square with 31 points thus far in the season. After wins against Leicester and Manchester United, Burnley played to a nil-nil draw against Arsenal in its last Premier League match. Southampton comes into this match having won three of its last five in the EPL. Ninja highlights a few other key points for his moneyline bet on this match.
Ninja has one more soccer pick for the show and it’s for a goal prop as Leipzig takes on Werder Bremen. These two teams could barely be further apart in the league as Leipzig is in second place and Werder in 17th. To make matters worse for Bremen, they are tied for the most goals allowed and Leipzig has scored the third-most goals. While this one could get ugly, Ninja has a bet to make things more interesting.
Iain MacMillan has been hitting his NCAA picks at a solid clip thus far in 2020 and he has two for today’s show. His first pick is an Ivy League matchup with Yale at Princeton. The Bulldogs come into this one having won seven of their last eight games, most of them in impressive fashion. Junior guard Paul Atkinson leads the Yale attack with 17.6 points per game. For the Tigers, freshman Jaelin Llewellyn paces the offense with 14.3 ppg. These two teams are both 5-1 in Ivy League play.
Staying in college hoops, it’s Fairfield against Marist. These two teams have combined for a 15-29 record but don’t let that discourage you from wagering on this game. Iain has found a nice spot to make it interesting. Also, these two teams have great nicknames in the Stags and Red Foxes.
Finally for Iain, he has an NHL total he likes. The San Jose Sharks are in Winnipeg to try to ground the Jets. Simply put, the Sharks have not been good this season. They are an aging team that has struggled in all aspects. Winnipeg is in the midst of a six-game homestand, having won two of three thus far. The Jets’ last game, against the New York Rangers, marked the first time in their last seven that they allowed more than two goals. The wager here is on the total.
Finally, Harry Gagnon has his pick for this weekend’s XFL action. Harry likes a side in the DC vs NY matchup. Cardale Jones was one of the biggest stars in the XFL’s Sportsbook weekend, passing for 235 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions, and adding 28 yards on the ground. New York was also impressive in its initial outing, but it was the defense that led the way. The Guardians held the Tampa Bay Vipers to a measly three points. Harry has a bet on the spread for this one.
As always, the show wraps up with a Q&A session for our viewers, so if there’s anything you’ve always wanted to ask, you should be joining us live every weekday at noon ET on our YouTube channel!
