Guys & Bets (Episode 262): 4 UFC Picks and 2 Bundesliga Bets

We know you want some betting info, and we’ve got you covered today. Joe Osborne, Andrew Avery and Iain MacMillan have some solid insight and reasoning to back up their plays for the coming weekend.

The Bundesliga is in full swing, and a new trend has been on display. Ninja has been tracking it since its return and has the inside scoop for your wagers. UFC Fight Night on May 30 (Saturday, I know, who knows what day it is in general?!?! but the fights are Saturday) has some real value from a betting spot. Joe and Iain each have two picks to put some money in your pocket.

Keep in mind, the Octagon is smaller than usual. It’s a 25-foot cage rather than a 30-foot cage. What effect will that have? They will address the impact that will have and other things, like a big trend in the UFC from a betting perspective with no audience. Here we go!

Joe starts the show off with a bet on the Main Event at UFC Fight Night. Tyron Woodley faces Gilbert Burns in a match that could shake up the welterweight division. Woodley comes into this fight off a loss in which his title was taken from him by Kamaru Usman. This fight could vault Burns up the rankings with a win, or remind sports bettors why Woodley is so dangerous. Woodley is a huge betting favorite in this match, but it’s not always about betting a fighter to win. Joe is playing a trend here that bettors should know about.

Staying with the UFC, Joe’s next bet is on a heavyweight fight between Augusto Sakai and Blagoy Ivanov, the 13th- and 12th-ranked fighters in the heavyweight division respectively. Sakai comes into this fight after winning his first three fights in the UFC and he is the betting favorite heading into Saturday’s action. Ivanov’s last fight was a decision loss to Derrick Lewis at UFC 244 and he’s looking to regain some status in the UFC. This bout looks like it will be a toe-to-toe fight. Tune in to see which side Joe favors for his wager.

The Bundesliga has returned to form, which has been wild. Ninja is locked in on a team that has had a couple of good showings in its return. Wolfsburg squares off with Eintracht Frankfurt in a match where both squads have different goals. Wolfsburg enters fresh off an impressive 3-1 win over Bayer Leverkusen. Marin Pongracic netted two goals for Wolfsburg in that match and he looks to stay hot as Wolfsburg tries to maintain their distance on the crowd in Europa League qualifying. Eintracht is only two points safe of relegation, so it is an important match for that squad as well. The bet here for Ninja is on the moneyline, which has good value.

Ninja is staying in the Bundesliga for his next pick, in what is a huge mismatch as second-place Borussia Dortmund faces the last-place team, Paderborn. Now, simply betting on Dortmund to win doesn’t offer any value, so Ninja has looked elsewhere to find his value bet on this match. Erling Haaland and the Dortmund squad come into this match off a loss to top-ranked Bayern Munich in what was one of the more anticipated matches of the season. Even in a loss, Dortmund showed it can play with the top squads, and now they look to take out some frustrations against an overmatched opponent.

Iain’s first wager is on a UFC fight in the women’s strawweight division. Mackenzie Dern started her UFC career off with two wins before losing a decision to Amanda Ribas at UFC 224. On the other hand, Hannah Cifers enters this fight as a big betting underdog, but like her opponent she has won two of her last three fights in the UFC. Dern is a huge betting favorite, but should she be? Iain will give you his thoughts and reasoning on where his money is going.

Finally for picks on the show, Iain is looking at a bantamweight fight between Louis Smolka and Casey Kenney. Much like other fights on this card, this fight has a big discrepancy from a bettor’s perspective. Kenney comes in as a big favorite, but is it warranted? Smolka’s last fight was an impressive KO/TKO win over Ryan MacDonald back in September. Kenney is coming into this fight having lost a unanimous decision to Merab Dvalishvili in February. Neither is known for their ground game, so there could be fireworks. Just what a sports bettor wants to hear.

As always, the show wraps up with a Q&A session for our viewers, so if there’s anything you’ve always wanted to ask, you should be joining us live every weekday at noon ET on our YouTube channel!
