It’s a Football Friday on Guys & Bets and Joe Osborne, Andrew Avery and Iain MacMillan have seven picks for your weekend of football betting.
There are some high-profile matchups this week with the Dallas Cowboys and Seattle Seahawks squaring off, and we’ll see how the San Francisco 49ers rebound after a disastrous week of injuries, and how the Atlanta Falcons respond after falling apart last week.
Fresh off their first win in the debut of their new stadium, the Las Vegas Raiders head to Foxborough to square off with Cam Newton and the New England Patriots. There are questions surrounding the health of Josh Jacobs heading into this game, which doesn’t do the Raiders any favors coming off a short week. The Patriots offense has looked different than in years past with Newton under center, but he’s bounced back nicely for New England. The Patriots defense could give the Raiders fits all day with a dominant secondary. Joe is looking at the spread for this AFC showdown.
Joe’s next bet is on the spread as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers face the Broncos in Denver. The Bucs rebounded nicely last week after dropping their Sportsbook game to the Saints. Tom Brady and Mike Evans found a connection with Chris Godwin out of the lineup, adding an explosive layer. Denver has already been hit by the injury bug, and Tampa Bay looks to take advantage of the opportunity at hand.
It wouldn’t be a Football Friday without a teaser from Joe. The Houston Texans have had a tough start to the season facing the Kansas City Chiefs and Baltimore Ravens to open their campaign. They’re still facing a tough opponent this Sunday in the Pittsburgh Steelers, but key betting numbers come into play here. Joe is on an NFC team to add to his teaser.
After an injury-riddled week, the San Francisco 49ers are back in MetLife Stadium, but this week they face the New York Giants. The good news for the 49ers is that their offensive line is healthy. The bad news is that seemingly every other position isn’t. But they don’t face Saquon Barkley as he is out for the season with a torn ACL, which limits an already limited Giants offense. Ninja is looking at a play on the spread here.
Ninja has the lone college football pick on the show today, and it’s a game that has been delayed for a couple of weeks. The NC State Wolfpack face the Virginia Tech Hokies in an ACC matchup. The 20th-ranked Hokies will be making their season debut and are led by junior quarterback Hendon Hooker. Virginia Tech should have an advantage in the trenches returning all five starters on its offensive line.
After a disheartening loss to the Dallas Cowboys, the Atlanta Falcons look to get back on track at home against the Chicago Bears. Iain is looking at the spread here, which is sitting at -3.5 for the Falcons. We should learn what the Falcons are made of this week. Can they bounce back? WILL they bounce back? Or did last week crush them altogether?
Iain’s next pick is on the total with the Carolina Panthers facing the Los Angeles Chargers in California. It was a big loss for the Panthers with Christian McCaffrey going out with a high ankle sprain last week, and that’s putting it mildly. But the Panthers do have a good group of receivers for Teddy Bridgewater to feed now. Perhaps the most shocking story last week in the NFL was the news surrounding why Justin Herbert was a last-minute starter. But Herbert looked good in his NFL debut and showed he can play in this league. Now it could be up to Keenan Allen and company to take advantage of a lackluster Panthers defense.
