Guys & Bets (Episode 277): College Football and Four NFL picks for October 2, 2020

Joe Osborne and Andrew Avery have looked at the slate of NFL and College Football games and have come up with five of their favorite bets for this weekend’s games.

It's a nice selection of spread, over/under and team-total bets, as there are many options to look at for each game. Ben Eckstein will join the guys to chat about the Capper Cup, which features some of the sharpest football cappers going.

We're starting Football Friday off in the NFC with Kyler Murray and the Arizona Cardinals looking to get back on track in Carolina against the Panthers. Carolina had a big win last week in L.A against the Chargers and rookie quarterback Justin Herbert, but this is a bigger task. DeAndre Hopkins and Kyler Murray have had instant chemistry this season. Hopkins has 32 catches for 356 and a touchdown through three games and his 356 yards leads the league in receiving.

Moving on to the Windy City, it's the Indianapolis Colts in town to take on the Chicago Bears. Somehow the Bears are 3-0 and now have Nick Foles under center. The Colts defense was lights out last week, outscoring the Jets on their own and Jonathan Taylor has shown how Indy can control the ball and the clock. While each team is 2-1 against the spread, Joe is looking at the total for this game.

For his last pick on the show, Joe is looking at the Minnesota Vikings team total, which sits at 25. The Vikings are in Houston to face the Texans in a "showdown" of 0-3 teams. When a team is 0-3 there's usually good reason. On the Texans’ part, they've had a really tough schedule to open their season, but their defense hasn't helped at all. The Vikings can't seem to stop anyone either, but they've put some points on the board at least.

In what is one of the more intriguing games of the day, the Cleveland Browns are in Texas to face the Dallas Cowboys. We've seen the Browns backfield of Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt carry this team to a couple wins to start the season, and they have a juicy matchup against a porous Cowboys defense. On the other hand, if Dallas has proven anything, it's that it can score with anybody in the league. Ninja is looking at a bet on the first quarter total.

Ninja has a College Football bet for this weekend, and it's an ACC matchup between the Virginia Tech Hokies and Duke Blue Devils. David Cutcliffe has been the Head Coach at Duke for 13 seasons and this is the first time his team has started 0-3. And it's not going to get any easier with Virginia Tech coming to town. The Hokies ran for over 300 yards in their opening game victory against NC State and will look keep to pounding the rock come Saturday. Ninja had the Hokies bet correct last week, and is betting on the 12-point spread here.
