NFL Week 5 Picks, College Football Betting and More | Odds Shark’s Guys & Bets (Episode 279)

It’s Football Friday on Guys & Bets as Joe Osborne, Andrew Avery and Iain MacMillan have their best bets from this weekend’s slate of games ready to go.

After a week of public shaming for getting beat by the Browns, the Dallas Cowboys are home to the New York Giants with a lofty total on the board. The Cowboys defense has been letting this team down all season. Dak Prescott’s numbers are very impressive, but he and the offense have been put in some tough spots through four games. Now the Giants come into town with their own set of issues putting up points. Joe is looking at a bet on the total for this game.

The Carolina Panthers have been quietly good thus far. They’ve won their last two games and the offense has been clicking. Mike Davis has done a good job filling in for injured superstar Christian McCaffrey and will look to carry the load at running back against a soft Falcons defense. Atlanta is sitting at 0-4 and has given up the second-most points in the league.

Joe has found two good lines on a couple of NFC West teams to pair up on a teaser this week. Crossing key numbers is crucial, and the Los Angeles Rams and Arizona Cardinals offer just that. Each NFC West squad is a touchdown favorite, so from a purely numbers perspective, this adds up.

Next up, Ninja has found a total that he likes on the NFL board. The up-and-down, hard-to-figure-out Cleveland Browns host another suspect team, the Indianapolis Colts. Both of these teams have had games where they look top-notch and games where they leave you scratching your head. The Browns lost stud running back Nick Chubb last week as he was placed on IR, so Kareem Hunt will have his chance to show what he can do as the lead back. The Colts offense feels like it’s still working out the kinks of not having an offseason.

Ninja has the lone college football bet for the show as Boston College hosts Pitt. Each team enters this game coming off its first loss of the season. Pitt quarterback Kenny Pickett had a career day last week with 411 passing yards and three total TDs, but the defense fell apart, allowing almost 400 yards as NC State shocked the Panthers 30-29. Boston College is led by sophomore quarterback Phil Jurkovec, who is a Pittsburgh native. He’s fresh off 313 passing yards and two touchdowns in BC’s loss last week.

Iain is looking at an underdog here, and he likes the Minnesota Vikings getting the points in Seattle. Russell Wilson and the Seahawks have been on fire to start the season, but their defense leaves something to be desired. The Vikings have been able to score, putting up 106 points through four games, and are coming off a victory last week over the Texans.

Well, the dumpster fire in Houston has been extinguished as Bill O’Brien was canned this week. So, Iain is looking at their game at home against the Jacksonville Jaguars for his next bet. After winning their first two games, the Jags have dropped back-to-back games to the Dolphins and Bengals. James Robinson has been a nice find for Jacksonville as the rookie sits eighth in rushing yards with 285.
