NFL Thanksgiving Day Picks, Plus Premier League & La Liga Picks | Odds Shark’s Guys & Bets (Episode 292)

It’s Thanksgiving! A tradition unlike any other where we watch the Detroit Lions and Dallas Cowboys each year and lay down some money.

Joe Osborne, Andrew Avery and Iain MacMillan have some football bets and some soccer bets, so enjoy your turkey and ham and all the fixins as the guys get you set for today’s slate of games.

The first game of the day is the Houston Texans at the Detroit Lions. Instead of forcing a bet on the entire game, Joe is using another betting option: a bet on the first quarter. Matthew Stafford and the Lions are trying to rebound after being shut out by the Panthers last week. The Lions are a team that can have an edge early in games, as is evident by Joe’s first-quarter stats that he has for this wager.

Believe it or not, the Dallas Cowboys and the Washington Football Team are in a three-way tie for second place in the NFC East at 3-7. The traditional Dallas home Thanksgiving Day game has teaser written all over it for Joe. Washington has played better football than most people would let on, at least on the defensive side of the ball, and they are 2-2 in their last four games with each loss being by three points. Dallas snapped a four-game skid last week as Andy Dalton led the Cowboys to a 31-28 win over the Vikings.

Iain has a bet for the early game, and he’s looking at the total. Deshaun Watson- and Matthew Stafford-led offenses can put up some points and each defense has had its issues shutting down the opposition. Both squads have shown that they have trouble moving the ball on the ground, but through the air hasn’t been an issue.

For the second NFL game today, Iain is looking at a bet on a player prop. Andy Dalton bounced back nicely for the Cowboys last week, leading them to a win over Minnesota. Washington does have the better defense here, but its passing defense leaves something to be desired. Dalton will have a full complement of weapons today as Amari Cooper, CeeDee Lamb and the rest of the Dallas offensive attack is in place.

Time for a couple of footy picks from Ninja. His first pick is in the English Premier League with Southampton facing Manchester United. With these two squads, anything can happen, especially when it comes to scoring. Southampton has tallied 12 goals in its last five matches, while Bruno Fernandes has six goals through his first eight games of the season. Ninja is looking at a totals bet here.

Moving on to La Liga, where Ninja has another bet on some scoring as Real Sociedad faces Villarreal. Villarreal has been on a scoring tear with 13 goals in its last five games. They sit in third place thus far, with Sociedad atop the table. Sociedad has only conceded four markers through 10 games, but now here comes the red-hot Paco Alcacer, who has five goals in his last five games.
