Thursday Night Football, College Football, Premier League and Serie A Picks | Odds Shark’s Guys & Bets (Episode 296)

Thursday Night Football is front and center but football of all sorts is on the docket for today’s Guys & Bets.

Joe Osborne, Andrew Avery, Iain MacMillan and Pamela Maldonado have their bets lined up for tonight’s football games – NFL and college – and take a look ahead to the weekend’s slate in England and Italy.

Thursday Night Football is a rematch of Super Bowl 53 as the New England Patriots are in Los Angeles to face the Rams. Jared Goff and the Rams rolled over the Arizona Cardinals last week 38-28, and don’t look now but the Rams may have found their running game. The Patriots completely shut down Justin Herbert last week, holding him to a quarterback rating of just 43.7. The home squad is favored here by just under a touchdown and Joe is looking at one of his patented teasers for his bet.

There is another bet for the Thursday Night Football game as Iain has his eyes on a prop. Cam Newton has been burning teams with his legs this season, much more so than with his arm. The Patriots don’t exactly have anyone on their roster at wideout who should put fear into any opposing defense, especially one that features Jalen Ramsey at cornerback. Iain’s bet is on the total for Cam Newton’s passing yards.

Ninja is heading to the Premier League for his first footy pick of the show. Chelsea sits in third place in the Premier League and has a home date with Everton, which has plummeted to ninth. Chelsea gets a lot of recognition as an attacking side, but defensively, the Blues have improved by leaps and bounds. Everton came out of the gate as hot as a rocket to start the campaign, winning their first five Premier League matches, but they’ve cooled a bit since then.

From England to Italy for Ninja’s next bet as it’s Sassuolo hosting Benevento in the Serie A. Sassuolo enters the match in fifth place and has dropped only one game through 10 matches. Benevento is 13th and has dropped five games thus far. Ninja is betting on a goal total in this match. Benevento has conceded the third-most goals this season (21), but with so many betting options for goal totals, you’ll want to hear the stats and reasoning for this one.

Pam’s first of two college football bets sees the Florida Atlantic Owls on the road to face the Southern Mississippi Golden Eagles. The Owls were on a four-game winning streak until Georgia Southern beat them last week. Defense has been the key for FAU as they allow a measly 12.4 points per game. It’s the complete opposite for the Golden Eagles as they have lost four of their last five and their defense is surrendering 32.4 points per game. Pam is looking at the spread here.

It’s Senior Night at Bobby Dodd Stadium as the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets host the Pittsburgh Panthers. This will be the third game in 15 days for the Yellow Jackets after going a month without playing a game. We know what we’re getting with this Georgia Tech squad: a heavy dose of running the football as they average 201.1 yards per game on the ground. But that matches up against a Pitt defense that only allows 93.1 rushing yards per game. The Panthers are favored by 5.5 points and Pam is looking at the line for her bet here.
