Joe Osborne, Andrew Avery and Iain MacMillan have their best bets set up to get you primed for a weekend of football betting across the NFL and NCAA.
It’s also getting down to the nitty-gritty in the Capper Cup standings. Pamela Maldonado will join the guys to chat about her approach to betting on games this season and review her bets in the Capper Cup thus far.
Joe kicks the capping off with a 6-point teaser! He’s 15-3-1 on teasers this football season. One of the teams he has on it is the Tennessee Titans, who are on the road to face the woeful Jacksonville Jaguars. This game sets up nicely for the league leader in rushing yards, Derrick Henry, as the Jags allow the third-most rushing yards per game at 136.9. The other team Joe has is an NFC home team with a juicy defensive matchup.
Next up for Joe is a bet on the total as the Indianapolis Colts go to Las Vegas to take on the Raiders. The Raiders barely escaped with a win last week against the Jets as Darren Waller balled out. The tight end had 13 catches for 200 yards and two touchdowns. But the Raiders have allowed 28, 43 and 35 points in their last three games. The Colts offense certainly got a jolt when rookie running back Jonathan Taylor returned after missing a game. He has put together a nice rookie campaign with 880 yards from scrimmage and five touchdowns.
The Monday Night Football matchup is an AFC North showdown between the Baltimore Ravens and Cleveland Browns. It’s a huge spot for the Ravens as they currently find themselves on the outside looking in at a playoff spot in the AFC. The Ravens snapped a three-game losing skid with a win over Dallas in Week 13. Baltimore is a slight road favorite even though Cleveland has won four in a row. Baltimore did win its earlier game against Cleveland by a score of 38-6 in Week 1.
Iain was all over the Washington Football Team’s upset win over the Pittsburgh Steelers last week, and he’s back on the Steelers game this week. Pittsburgh goes to Bills Stadium to square off with the Buffalo Bills. Josh Allen has certainly put himself in the conversation for MVP as his play has covered up a lot of warts for the Bills so far. But this Pittsburgh defense is one of the best in the league and could pose problems for Allen and the offense. Iain has a bet on the spread for this game.
Patrick Mahomes and the explosive Kansas City Chiefs are in Florida to face Tua Tagovailoa and the Miami Dolphins. This game is a huge measuring stick for the Dolphins to see how they match up with a truly elite team. Slowing down the Kansas City attack is a daunting task for anyone, so it’s really a matter of trying to keep up on offense. Travis Kelce and Tyreek Hill sit second and third respectively on the receiving yards list and don’t look to be slowing down any time soon. Iain is looking at the 7.5-point spread for his bet on this game.
In college football action, it’s the Akron Zips in Buffalo to take on the Bulls. Buffalo is 4-0 and led by stud running back Jaret Patterson, who has 920 yards on the ground and 16 touchdowns. The Missouri native will have a great opportunity to add to those totals as Akron allows 212 rushing yards per game. Ninja isn’t betting the spread or the total, but rather one of the many other betting options available.
On to the Big Ten as Ninja has a bet for the Heartland Trophy game. The No. 25 Wisconsin Badgers face the No. 19 Iowa Hawkeyes at Kinnick Stadium, in a series that has seen the Badgers take the last five meetings. But Wisconsin has been slumping, losing back-to-back games and scoring a combined 13 points. Iowa has been on a tear lately, winning five in a row and outscoring opponents 186-76 in the process. Both teams have stingy defenses, so points could be at a premium.
