It may feel like the NBA just ended, but the best part is that it’s starting back up again. Joe Osborne and Gilles Gallant have their best bets ready for Sportsbook night and will also break down some of their favorite futures bets for the upcoming season.
Nothing says the NBA is back quite like Joe betting on a first-quarter line. In the Sportsbook game of the night, Kevin Durant makes his long-awaited debut in a Brooklyn uniform as the Nets host Steph Curry and the Golden State Warriors. Durant and Kyrie Irving showed good chemistry on a limited basis in the preseason, which bodes well for this Nets team. Golden State will be challenged all season to make up for the loss of Klay Thompson to injury, and his defense will probably be missed more than his offense.
Next up for Joe is a bet on the late game as the defending champions, the Los Angeles Lakers, are home to the Los Angeles Clippers. The Lakers made some key additions in the offseason, bringing in Dennis Schroder, Montrezl Harrell and Marc Gasol. The challenge, though, is that they haven’t had a lot of time to practice together. These squads are both known for their tough defense, especially against each other. Joe is looking at the total in this game.
Gilles starts off in the Sportsbook game as he is betting on the total. The Nets have a completely revamped coaching staff as Steve Nash is the man in charge, and he added his former coach Mike D’Antoni and former teammate Amar’e Stoudemire to his staff. This could mean that Brooklyn is ready to run this season. We know what the D’Antoni offense looks like, and it’s something that could be executed with this team.
As for the all-L.A. matchup, Gilles has a plus-money bet. Some of the Lakers’ transactions were mentioned earlier, but the Clippers didn’t just sit back and watch. They added Serge Ibaka to solidify their frontcourt, brought in Nicolas Batum for secondary scoring and made a change with the guy who is calling the shots as Doc Rivers was let go and Tyronn Lue was promoted. One thing we know with this matchup is that these teams match up very well with each other from a personnel standpoint.
