We’ve got a big show today as Joe Osborne, Andrew Avery and Iain MacMillan have a full slate of games to pick from across college hoops, the NBA and much more.
In the NBA, the Golden State Warriors are home to the San Antonio Spurs this evening. Steph Curry is back to his old self, leading the Warriors with 28.2 points per game while attempting an average of 11 three-pointers a night. The Warriors are fresh off a 115-113 win over the Lakers, while the Spurs come into this game with wins in three of their last four. Joe is looking at the spread for his bet in this game.
Next up, it’s the Atlanta Hawks hosting the Detroit Pistons. The Hawks’ plus/minus so far is only +2, while the Pistons sit at -4.7. With the spread sitting at -5 for the Hawks, depending on your sportsbook, this could be a good spot to ride the underdog. The Hawks have dropped two of their last three games and are 2-4 against the spread at home this season. Joe has a few more key stats and a breakdown to support his underdog bet.
You can almost always count on a player prop from Joe, and he’s got one today for Nikola Vucevic. The Orlando Magic are on the road to play the Minnesota Timberwolves, and there is a gaping hole in the middle of the Timberwolves lineup as Karl-Anthony Towns is out due to COVID-19.
Ninja heads to La Liga as he has a plus-money bet on the moneyline between Real Betis and Celta Vigo. Pretty even matchup here as these squads each have 23 points through 18 games and both have scored 22 goals. So with all things being equal, Ninja has dug into some lineup maneuvering and other capping for his bet here.
Guys & Bets have had their darlings over the years, but now this could be the new trend, a Guys & Bets fade. Fiorentina faces Crotone in Serie A play on Saturday and Crotone is at the bottom of Serie A with a -20 goal differential and has allowed a league-worst 41 goals. Fiorentina has not been great in the league either, but could this be a spot to back La Viola?
Over in college basketball, we have the 10th-ranked Wisconsin Badgers hosting the Northwestern Wildcats. The Badgers sit in third place in the Big Ten at 11-3 overall with a conference record of 5-2, while Northwestern is 6-6 and 3-5, respectively. D’Mitrik Trice and Micah Potter lead the way for Wisconsin as the only Badgers who average double digits in scoring. Iain is looking at the spread for his wager on this game.
In the NHL, two of the more exciting teams are squaring off tonight in Toronto. Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, Auston Matthews, John Tavares, Mitch Marner and all those offensive weapons will convene as the Oilers take on the Maple Leafs. Only five teams in the league have allowed more goals than the Leafs have to start the season, with Edmonton being one of them. Iain is looking at the total in this high-flying affair.
