What a lineup of games we’ve got on tap today with the NBA returning, conference tourneys in full swing, Champions League second legs and much more!
Joe, Ninja and Iain are here to give you their favorite bets and answer any questions you may have.
The unofficial second half of the NBA season tips off tonight and that’s where Joe is going for his first bet. He’s looking at the total as the San Antonio Spurs go on the road to face their in-state rivals, the Dallas Mavericks. The Spurs are one game up on the Mavs for top spot in the Southwest Division and that’s something many people did not see coming. The Spurs have been solid defensively, giving up 110.9 points per game, good for 10th-best in the league.
In the Big 12 tourney, it’s the No. 9-seeded Kansas State Wildcats facing the eighth-seeded TCU Horned Frogs. Both of these teams are up against it as far as making the big tournament goes, but that doesn’t mean there isn’t a good spot to lay down some money on the game. Joe is looking at the total for his wager here.
On the ice tonight, the Edmonton Oilers host the Ottawa Senators in the second game of a three-game set. The Oilers won 3-2 on Monday behind 26 saves from netminder Mikko Koskinen. Connor McDavid and the Oilers hitting the UNDER doesn’t sound right, does it? Well, this team has gone UNDER in five of its last six games. Is it a trend that will continue? Joe lays out his reasoning for his bet on the total in this game.
In Champions League play, it’s the second leg between Liverpool and RB Leipzig with the Reds holding a 2-0 advantage on aggregate. That’s the best thing that can be said about Liverpool at the moment. They’ve lost six of their last seven Premier League matches and have lost six straight at Anfield! Leipzig clearly has work to do if they want to advance to the next round so they may need to be more aggressive than usual.
In today’s other Champions League game, PSG faces Barcelona and the French squad holds a 4-1 lead on aggregate. So, Barcelona clearly has their work cut out for them. PSG has been very effective lately and in the last five matches across all competitions, they’ve notched 12 goals and have only conceded three, including their 4-1 win over Barcelona. While picking a side isn’t ideal for Ninja here, he’s found a goal prop that he likes for his bet.
It’s almost time for March Madness to dominate the sports landscape but before that, we have conference tournament play and Iain has a couple of bets for those games. First up, it’s the Duke Blue Devils playing the Louisville Cardinals in the ACC tourney. Make no mistake, this isn’t the Duke team we’re used to watching this time of year. The Blue Devils have struggled mightily this season, limping their way to a 12-11 season. They handled Boston College easily in yesterday’s action by a score of 86-51, but this Louisville team is a much different beast.
For his other college hoops play, Iain is looking at two of the bigger names in college sports when Notre Dame faces UNC. The Fighting Irish have had a nice run in college basketball the last couple of seasons, but this squad went 11-14 and could be in above their heads. These two teams played back on January 2 with UNC winning 66-65. The rematch is much more significant as the loser goes home. North Carolina could really use a good run in this tourney to help improve its seeding when the Madness starts.
