MLB, NBA, NHL, UFC and Premier League Picks for April 9, 2021 | Odds Shark’s Guys & Bets (Episode 332)

It’s a nice buffet of bets on the show today as Joe, Iain and Ninja talk MLB, NBA, UFC and Premier League betting.

Let’s start in Major League Baseball as Joe has a first-five inning bet with the Philadelphia Phillies on the road to take on the Atlanta Braves. Pretty good pitching matchup here with Zack Wheeler and Charlie Morton on the mound but the Braves have been a little slow out of the gates as they sit at 2-4. Ronald Acuna Jr. is the only Braves batter with double-digit at-bats who’s hitting above .212.

Time for a couple of NBA player props from Joe and his first bet is on Jayson Tatum as the Boston Celtics host the Minnesota Timberwolves. While this season certainly hasn’t gone the way the Celtics had thought, Tatum is proving that he is an NBA star. The 23-year-old small forward is averaging 25.1 points per game to go along with seven boards and 4.3 assists, while shooting 37.6 percent from three-point land.

When the Orlando Magic traded Nikola Vucevic to the Bulls, acquiring a young player with the potential of Wendell Carter Jr. was important. The seventh overall selection in the 2018 NBA Draft struggled to find his way in Chicago, but he’s settled in nicely in Orlando, averaging 15 points per game to go along with 8.5 rebounds. Joe is betting the total for Carter’s points+rebounds prop.

On the ice it’s a West Division matchup with the Minnesota Wild hosting the St. Louis Blues. The Blues are just three points behind the Arizona Coyotes for the fourth and final playoff spot. The Wild are the least disciplined team in the NHL as they serve an average of 10.2 penalty minutes per game. The St. Louis power play hasn’t exactly set the league on fire, but it could have a real chance to break out.

UFC Fight Night: Vettori vs Holland goes down Saturday at the UFC Apex. Iain has a bet for the co-main event that features a featherweight bout between Arnold Allen and Sodiq Yusuff. Arnold, the five-foot-nine British fighter, comes into this tilt having won nine consecutive fights, the last three by unanimous decision. Yusuff is riding a six-fight winning streak with his last loss being a knockout at the hands of Luis Gomez in December 2017.

The Arizona Diamondbacks have their home opener against the Cincinnati Reds. The Reds are 5-1 and are tearing the cover off the ball, leading the majors by putting up 57 runs through six games. The Diamondbacks, meanwhile, have started the other way. They sit at 2-5 and have basically been the opposite of the Reds. They’ve allowed 43 runs, the third-most in MLB so far. Ninja is looking at a moneyline bet for this game.

Ninja has a footy bet for the show, and he’s looking at Sheffield United taking on Arsenal in Premier League play. Sheffield is sitting in the basement of the standings, having won only four games this season. Ninja isn’t picking a side in this match, though, as he’s looking at a prop bet.
