MLB and 2021 NFL Draft picks for April 28, 2021 | Odds Shark’s Guys & Bets (Episode 336)

We’ve got a nice little show on tap today as Joe and Ninja break down four MLB picks as well as some 2021 NFL Draft bets.

The NFL draft takes center stage Thursday night, with Clemson quarterback Trevor Lawrence expected to go first overall. There are a ton of prop bets available for the draft, so Joe and Ninja broke down their best spots as they each have a trio of bets for the event.

But it’s off to the diamond first with the Chicago Cubs on the road to face the Atlanta Braves. Neither of these clubs have gotten off to the start they’d like as they are both under .500. Ronald Acuna Jr. had gone five games without a hit before sending one deep last night for his eighth home run of the season. As we saw last weekend with Fernando Tatis Jr., this could be a sign of good things to come for the young superstar. Joe has a moneyline bet on this matchup. A little tidbit for totals bettors: the OVER has hit in nine of Atlanta’s 13 home games, with one game being a PUSH.

Continuing on the diamond, it’s the second game of a three-game set with the Detroit Tigers in the Windy City to take on the Chicago White Sox. The White Sox had won four in a row before dropping yesterday’s game 5-2. Carlos Rodon takes the hill for the Sox and he has been dynamite to start the season with a 0.47 ERA, 0.68 WHIP and a no-hitter to his credit. The Tigers counter with Casey Mize, who brings a 5.23 ERA and 1.45 WHIP to this contest. Joe is looking at the runline for his bet.

For the draft, Joe is looking at prop bets for Justin Fields, Penei Sewell and Ja’Marr Chase. Each of these bets comes back at plus money. Of all the top prospects in the draft, Fields seems to be the one who has the biggest range for where he’ll be selected. Did the 49ers trade up to get the former Buckeyes signal-caller? Will a team move up and select him? So many questions.

A bright spot in MLB through 22 games has been the Kansas City Royals. They occupy top spot in the AL Central at 14-8. The Royals are 6-3 on the road so far, and the Pirates counter with a 5-3 record at home. Mitch Keller is throwing for Pittsburgh and 2021 has not gone so well for him as he’s 1-2 with a 7.16 ERA. It’s a moneyline bet for Ninja on this game. If you’re someone who likes to bet totals, you might be interested to know that the Royals have gone UNDER in all nine road games during this campaign.

Game 3 of a four-game series goes tonight between the Oakland A’s and Tampa Bay Rays. The Rays have ace Tyler Glasnow taking the mound and he’s fifth in MLB in strikeouts with 46 through five starts. The A’s have cooled off a bit after that torrid 13-game winning streak, dropping two of their last three games. Ninja is making a moneyline bet for this game.

Ninja’s bets on the NFL draft have a nice variety to them. He’s betting on who will be the first defensive player selected, and the OVER/UNDER on Michigan defensive end Kwity Paye’s draft spot. He does have a really sweet plus-money wager for a running backs prop come draft night.
