The brothers Desormeaux will team up on the first Saturday of May for the Kentucky Derby (G1) with Exaggerator, Keith doing the training and the Hall of Fame rider Kent the pilot.

He earned a 103 Beyer Speed Figure for his Santa Anita Derby victory, the highest number of any of the Road to the Kentucky Derby points races.
The colt showed flashed of brilliance as a juvenile, winning the Saratoga Special (G2) last summer at Saratoga in his stakes debut. He followed that up with a good runner up to Brody’s Cause in the Breeders’ Futurity (G1) at Keeneland in the mud and then was fourth beaten three lengths by Nyquist in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile (G1).
He capped off his two-year-old season winning the rich Delta Jackpot (G3) and earned nearly $1 million as a juvenile.
He returns in the seven-furlong San Vicente where he ran a good second to Nyquist, beaten 1 ½ lengths, and then ran third behind Danzing Candy and Mor Spirit in the San Felipe (G2).
He came from 16 lengths back to rally in the slop to win the Santa Anita Derby by 6 ¼ lengths in one of the most impressive Kentucky Derby preps this season.
The colt finished third in the Road to the Kentucky Derby points standings with 126.
The Santa Anita Derby has been a key prep for the Run to the Roses in recent years. Last year’s Sportsbook Dortmund checked in fourth in the Kentucky Derby, but both California Chrome in 2014 and I’ll Have Another in 2012 parlayed their wins in the Santa Anita Debry into a trip to the Sportsbook’s circle on the first Saturday of May.
