Zack Greinke is finally off the disabled list and will make his first start since June 28 tonight vs Steven Matz and the New York Mets. The Diamondbacks have had terrible luck with injuries all year and continue to bottom feed in the NL. They do, however, have a decent 26-27 record on the road and will look to play spoilers in the Big Apple tonight.
Greinke (10-3, 3.62 ERA) had been pitching wonderfully for Arizona before going down with an oblique injury and had won seven of his last nine games. The Mets are still bottom three in the league in runs per game so this should be a good start for the D-backs ace to get back in the swing of things.
The 32-year-old Florida native is also 5-0 on the road this year with a 1.85 ERA.
Steven Matz (8-8, 3.63 ERA) got lit up at Yankee Stadium in his last start but is coming off a great month of July that saw him post a 3.19 ERA in five starts. The lefty is liable to get big spots put up on him every once in a while and with Greinke making his first start in over a month, the total of 7.5 may be in danger.
