MLB Same-Game Parlay Today: Astros vs Angels (+394)

Let's end this week with a winning MLB same-game parlay. After focusing on some AL East parlays earlier this week, I'm going to go to the West for Friday. I'm fading the Astros today, thanks to a wonky pitching matchup.

Here are the three legs for my Astros vs Angels same-game parlay:

BetOdds
Angels Moneyline+154
Framber Valdez Under 5.5 Ks-162
Jo Adell To Get A Hit-150
Overall+394

Same-Game Parlay Pick No. 1: Angels Moneyline

Angels batters absolutely rake against Houston starter Framber Valdez. In 102 career at-bats against Valdez, Angels hitters have a .353 average and 1.026 collective OPS. Valdez has lost his last two starts against the Angels, allowing 15 runs across the two outings.

This is also a general fade of the Astros. Houston is still struggling after a brutal start to the year, rocking a 4-6 record in their last 10 games. They're also averaging just 3.5 runs per game in that stretch, so if Valdez gets rocked tonight they won't be able to keep up.

The Astros are 1-4 in their last five games where they've allowed more than five runs.

Same-Game Parlay Pick No. 2: Valdez Under 5.5 Ks

Framber Valdez just doesn't have the strikeouts this year. He's gone under 5.5 Ks in his last three outings and five of his last six.

Valdez now has to face an Angels team that ranks third in MLB in wRC+ against left-handed pitchers. They also have one of the lowest strikeout rates against southpaws, punching out just 20.5% of the time. The last time Valdez pitched against the Angels, he struck out just three batters.

Same-Game Parlay Pick No. 3: Jo Adell Over 0.5 Hits

One batter in particular who tees off against Valdez is young Angels outfielder Jo Adell. In 19 career at-bats against Valdez, Adell is hitting .316 with a 1.034 OPS. At just -150 odds to get a hit, this is simply great value with those matchup stats.

Adell's general stats may not look very good — he's hitting just .210 on the season and has been worth -0.8 WAR. But, the one thing he does is mash against lefties like Valdez. So far this year he's hitting .293 against lefties with a .1.170 OPS.
