Sportsbook Odds Analysis

The Braves opened as a -111 road favorite in Milwaukee and have climbed up slightly to Atlanta -116 while the Brewers are going off at +106 at home. Bets on the UNDER eight runs Sportsbook line have bumped the total in this matchup down to 7.5 runs. The UNDER is 4-2 in Milwaukee’s last six games against Atlanta.

Starting Pitchers Analysis

Ian Anderson closed out the month of April with a tidy 2.48 ERA and a 1.10 WHIP through his first five starts of the season. His first two starts in May have been less impressive with a 6.30 ERA and a 1.70 WHIP. All together, Anderson enters Saturday with a 3.46 ERA and a 1.26 WHIP.

Brett Anderson has pitched well so far in his second season with the Brewers sporting a 3.54 ERA and a 1.23 WHIP. Anderson returned from a hamstring injury with three strong innings on Sunday allowing two hits, a walk and no runs with three strikeouts against the Miami Marlins. The Brewers will look to stretch him out more in this matchup.

Atlanta News & Notes

With Ronald Acuna Jr. sidelined with an ankle injury, Atlanta still managed to score six runs in a 6-3 win over Milwaukee on Friday night. Marcell Ozuna had a strong game going 2-for-3 with two runs, a home run, and an RBI. The Braves are hoping for a lot more games like this from Ozuna; after batting .338 with 18 home runs in his first season with Atlanta last year, Ozuna is batting only .216 with six home runs thus far in 2021.

Acuna Jr. is listed as questionable to return to the lineup with his sore ankle on Saturday. The Braves’ win on Friday snapped a three-game losing streak after Atlanta was swept at home by the Toronto Blue Jays. Atlanta is 9-8 over its last 17 games with an 0-6 record against Toronto and a 9-2 record against all other opponents.

Milwaukee News & Notes

Milwaukee’s offensive woes continued on Friday night as the team managed to score only three runs just one night after getting shutout by the St. Louis Cardinals 2-0. The Brewers are now 3-9 over their last 12 games and are averaging a paltry 2.13 runs per game over their last eight games. Christian Yelich started a rehab assignment in Triple-A earlier this week and the Brewers are hoping to get him back for their upcoming road trip starting on Tuesday.

The Brewers have allowed two runs or less in five of their last eight games. With their offense playing so poorly, it is likely going to take another strong effort on the mound to give Milwaukee a shot at an upset in this one.

Betting Pick: Atlanta -116

Atlanta is far better than its current 18-20 record would indicate. Ian Anderson should be able to handle this slumping Brewers lineup to put the Braves in position for another road win.
