Starting Pitchers

Ranger Suarez (6-4) will look to earn his third straight victory for the Phillies. The southpaw pitched 7.1 innings against the San Diego Padres on June 23, scattering seven hits and allowing two earned runs in the win. Suarez has a 4.23 ERA and a 1.48 WHIP through 72.1 innings of work.

Kyle Wright (8-4) last pitched on June 23 when he picked up a win against the San Francisco Giants despite giving up 10 hits and four earned runs in the ballgame. The right-hander owns a 3.18 ERA and a 1.16 WHIP with 92 strikeouts over 85 innings.

Olson, D’Arnaud Help Braves Win Series Opener

A late rally helped the Braves pick up a 5-3 win in the opener Tuesday. Atlanta took an early 2-0 lead in the first inning thanks to solo shots from Travis d’Arnaud and Matt Olson, with d’Arnaud adding another RBI in the third. With the game tied 3-3 in the eighth, Olson hit his second solo homer before Adam Duvall added an RBI double for insurance in the ninth.

With the victory, the Braves improved to 20-5 this month, just one win away from tying the club record for victories in June. D’Arnaud has been a big part of the club’s recent success with nine extra-base hits, five home runs and 12 RBIs over his last 10 games while batting .341.

Phillies Will Be Without Harper Indefinitely

The Phillies played well but just fell short Tuesday as the bullpen let them down late in the game. J.T. Realmuto, Odubel Herrera and Kyle Schwarber each had an RBI to provide the offense while Andrew Bellatti, who allowed the go-ahead run in the eighth, took the loss.

While Atlanta has been the best team in the majors this month, Philadelphia isn’t far behind, going 18-7 in June – the fourth-best record among all clubs. That could change going into July, though, with Bryce Harper set to undergo surgery on his fractured thumb. With Harper out, more pressure will fall on the shoulders of Schwarber, who has four homers and 10 RBIs over his last six outings.

Braves vs Phillies Pick & Insights

Braves: Keys To Victory

The Braves have been a heavy-hitting team all season long, ranking second in home runs (113) and in the top 10 in hits and runs scored. Suarez has allowed at least eight runners on base in each of his last three outings – look for the Braves to take advantage and knock in plenty of runs.

Phillies: Keys To Victory

Philadelphia lost a big bat in Harper, who was their only regular hitting over .300, but his absence gives others a chance to rise to the occasion. Schwarber’s 22 homers this season rank tied for fourth in the majors, while his 49 walks are tied for second. Look for the 2021 all-star to lead the way offensively while Harper recovers.
