Two teams in heated playoff races meet up in Cleveland as the Guardians (67-59) play host to the surprising Baltimore Orioles (67-60). Orioles vs Guardians Sportsbook Odds

The Guardians opened as -167 favorites, and why not considering the Orioles haven’t won in Cleveland in their last six tries. The total opened at 8.5, but that has since lowered to 8. The UNDER is 5-0 in Baltimore’s last five games and 7-1 in its last eight.

Starting Pitchers

Spenser Watkins gets the nod for the Orioles. In his first full season in the bigs, Watkins has posted a 4-4 record in 17 starts with an ERA just under 4.00.  He has lost each of his last three starts, although he hasn’t pitched that poorly. This marks his first career appearance vs Cleveland.

Cal Quantrill goes for the Guardians in search of win No. 11 on the season. He is a very impressive 6-0 in his last nine starts, including dominant performances over the Padres, Blue Jays and Astros. He is 0-1 in two career starts against Baltimore.

How Are The Orioles Getting It Done?

It’s hard to fathom exactly how this team has 67 wins at this point of the season and sits just two games back of the final wild-card spot in the American League. But somehow they are finding a way. They have won five of their last seven games and three consecutive series, including taking two of three from the Astros, when they held one of baseball’s best teams to just four runs in three games.

Their best hitter this season is Cedric Mullins, who is hitting just .267. But don’t tell the Orioles they can’t win on any given night.

Guardians Return Home After West Coast Trip

It’s safe to say the team is happy to be back home after a rough series in Seattle. Cleveland lost three of four, scoring just seven runs. Fortunately, the trip wasn’t a complete failure as they did beat the Padres in a two-game series to go .500 on the six-game road swing. They currently lead the American League Central by a game and a half over the Minnesota Twins.

Jose Ramirez continues to lead the way offensively for the Guardians. He is second in the majors in RBIs (106), four behind Aaron Judge of the New York Yankees.

Orioles Player Prop: Cedric Mullins – To Steal A Base (+250)

Mullins is currently riding an 11-game hit streak and is hitting .315 in the month of August, so getting on base at least once shouldn’t be an issue. The Orioles outfielder has swiped 28 bases this season, tied for second in the majors with teammate Jorge Mateo.

Guardians Player Prop: Andres Gimenez - 3+ Total Bases (+220)

Sometimes you just love playing a certain team and that seems to be the case for the Guardians second baseman. Gimenez has four home runs in six career games vs Baltimore, including one in each game he played against them earlier this season. And by the way, he’s hitting .329 in August.

Orioles: Keys To Victory

This series can’t begin quick enough for Ryan Mountcastle. The Orioles first baseman is hitless in his last 14 plate appearance with nine strikeouts. With that said, he is a .382 career hitter vs Cleveland with four home runs, and is 1-for-1 in his career against Quantrill. If he can give the O’s an offensive boost, then making your Orioles vs Guardians pick got that much tougher.

Guardians: Keys To Victory

Cal Quantrill. As mentioned, he has been red-hot recently. If he can shut down San Diego, Toronto and Houston, then taming the Orioles’ bats shouldn’t be that hard. If he has another strong outing, then Cleveland may just continue its dominance over Baltimore.
