Wake up MLB bettors, we've got Y/NRFI picks to hit. Instant MLB action is the way to go these days, so follow my best bets and trends ahead of a good day for baseball.
Here are my two Y/NRFI picks for Tuesday, June 25:
Pick 1: Blue Jays vs Red Sox: No run First inning (-115)
Matchup Preview - Game Time: 7:10 pm ET
While Toronto scored a first-inning run yesterday, I'm comfortable betting on a first-inning donut this time around. You can't completely count the Jays out in the first inning (last night was good evidence of that), but the numbers suggest continual NRFI bets.
Toronto owns a .192 BA in the first inning. While Brayan Bello isn't a stud for the Red Sox these days, that's a great baseline to work with. On the other end, Kevin Gausman should be able to hold Boston down. He's done it once already this season, allowing a first-inning walk but pitching a shutout inning vs the Sox in his last start on June 19.
Pick 2: Mariners vs Rays: No Run First Inning (-130)
Matchup Preview - Game Time: 6:50 pm ET
These two goofy pitchers both bungled their last first inning. Luis Castillo (11-5 NRFI) and Zack Littell (9-6 NRFI) both participated in a YRFI outing last time around, but I'm not so certain we will witness a repeat. And the logic is very simple.
The M's have gotten better at hitting in the first inning, but they're still unreliable. Seattle's .222 BA in the first inning isn't very hot; neither is the Rays' .235 BA.
You'll find even more damning data if you drill down the individual player numbers. For example, Yandy Diaz (.679 OPS), Julio Rodriguez (.570 OPS), and Randy Arozarena (.711 OPS) are all subpar in the first frame of games.
It's best to ride the NRFI any time these two clubs clash. Safer that way.
