The right-hander went five innings in his last outing on May 18 against the Kansas City Royals, giving up seven hits and two earned runs in a no-decision. Giolito boasts a 2.84 ERA and a 1.23 WHIP through 31.2 innings this season.

Boston, which established a season high in runs (16) and hits (19), slugged four homers in the game. Surprisingly, however, the Red Sox have not relied on the long ball very much this season – their 39 home runs ranks 19th in the majors despite the club ranking 10th in runs scored.
