Indians Continue to Dominate the Red Sox in Titletown

It took a ninth-inning rally and an error from Brock Holt but the Indians overcame a rocky Mike Clevinger start to claim victory against the Red Sox last night and they’ll be big betting favorites for tonight’s contest when they call Carlos Carrasco’s reliable number.

SHARK BITES
  • The Indians are 8-0 SU and 7-1 on the runline in their last 8 games against teams with winning records.
  • The Red Sox are 6-0 SU in their last 6 games after a loss.
  • The Red Sox are 2-10 SU in their last 12 games on the road against the Indians.

If Danny Salazar, Corey Kluber and Carrasco can keep pitching like they have been the last two weeks, the Tribe will be one of the tougher outs in the playoffs. In Carrasco’s last two trips to the bump, he’s allowed only one run in 13 innings and he’s struck out 19 batters.

When he last faced the Crimson Hose, however, the Venezuelan failed to make it out of the second inning, getting knocked around for five runs on six hits before getting the hook.

Making a possibly tepid appearance on the Boston hill tonight it’s Doug Fister (2-6, 5.56 ERA), who will be seeing the Tribe for the third time since July 31. In his two previous starts against the defending American League champs this year, the 33-year-old major-league veteran has a 5.25 ERA and is the main reason why the Sox are such significant underdogs.

Losing Andrew Miller hurts the Indians in the bullpen but that shouldn’t be a factor this evening with such an advantage on the starting bump.
