Arrieta Aims to Extend Supremacy vs Mets

At this point it has almost become clichéd, but the Chicago Cubs have still yet to lose a start when Jake Arrieta starts since July 25. Arrieta will face off against the New York Mets Sunday, a team he had great success against this season, with the Cubs trying to even up the NLDS 1-1.

Shark Bites
  • Mets Lucas Duda will be in the lineup after being benched in Game 1.
  • No Cubs player had more than one hit in Game 1.
  • The UNDER is 7-3 in the Mets past 10 games.

Arrieta is coming off his worst start in recent memory with the near unhittable ace allowing four earned runs, something he had not done since June 15. The Cy Young candidate has taken to the rubber twice this season against the Mets posting a 2-0 record with a 1.13 ERA, though both of those games came in the first half of the season when New York was a much different team then they are now.

The Mets will start rookie hurler Noah Syndergaard opposite Arrieta. ‘Thor,’ as Sundergaard is called, is coming off his first relief experience of his career Thursday when he threw 12 of his 13 fastballs at 99 mile per hour or higher. Syndergaard has only faced the Cubs once in his career, but he was beaten up more than usual as he allowed three earned runs and six hits through 5.1 innings.
