O's Provide Surprise Value in Opener Against the Tribe

It’s been a long time coming, but the Indians have won five straight games and it seems they’ve finally found their groove. They’re playing their best baseball of the season and they’ll go into their four-game set with the Orioles in sole possession of first place in the American League Central. Their standing, however, could be in jeopardy given how they’ve played the O’s of late.

SHARK BITES
  • The Indians are 1-9 SU in their last 10 games against the Orioles.
  • The Orioles are 0-4 SU in their last 4 games when opening a series.
  • The total has gone OVER in 8 of the Orioles' last 10 games.

Corey Kluber (5-2, 4.15 ERA) will take the rock for the Tribe in the icebreaker and he’ll face O’s youngster Dylan Bundy (7-5, 3.29 ERA) in the effort. The 24-year-old Bundy has been the only bright light for an O’s starting pitching staff that has the second-worst ERA (5.46) in the major leagues and that light has shone most vigorously at Camden Yards, where the right-hander has a 2.38 ERA.

The Indians have had their share of problems with the O’s but they’ll always be a confident club when their ace takes the mound. Since coming off the DL earlier this month, Kluber has pitched three quality starts in three appearances and he’s struck out 28 total batters in just 19 innings. Baltimore has had a lot of trouble against righty pitching this season so if you’re playing daily fantasy, you may want to give Kluber a look.

That said, if you’re betting this game, you might be wise to consider the underdog value of the O’s. They’re coming off a series in which they clubbed 10 home runs and Kluber is on a two-game losing streak in Baltimore, despite pitching well in both of those starts.
