Clevinger has strong numbers on the road

Making his 24th trip to the mound this season for the Indians is Mike Clevinger (7-7, 3.38 ERA). Cleveland hasn’t won back-to-back Clevinger starts since mid-June and he is coming off an impressive start vs the Twins. The righty tossed seven innings of one-run ball his last time on the hill and looks to carry that momentum against the Reds. The Florida native has been good in away starts this year, sporting an impressive 2.69 ERA while holding batters to a .213 average, but the Indians are just 4-7 SU in those games.

Clevinger made his second career start against Cincinnati in early June and that outing didn’t go as planned. The 27-year-old was tagged for five earned runs on seven hits over six innings in a 7-5 losing effort. However, the righty did rack up 11 strikeouts in that start. His first appearance against the Reds in 2016 was much of the same as he surrendered four earned runs over 5.1 innings, but the Indians won that game 8-7. Overall, Cleveland has gone 1-4 SU over Clevinger’s five career interleague outings while he holds a 5.47 ERA.

Struggling Bailey eyes just second win all season

Opposing Clevinger in tonight’s game for the Reds is Homer Bailey (1-9, 6.19 ERA). Cincinnati is 1-14 SU when the Texas native gets the ball this season and, somehow, he is worse at home than he is on the road. At Great American Ball Park, the 32-year-old is winless with an ugly 6.44 ERA and batters are crushing him for a .310 average. He has allowed three or more earned runs in five of his eight starts at home in 2018.

Things don’t get any easier for Bailey when he clashes with the Indians. His club is 3-5 SU over his eight career outings vs them and he has a 5.44 ERA which is his fourth-highest ERA vs teams he has made at least five starts against. However, he hasn’t faced Cleveland since 2014. Bailey has been profitable for bettors this season, but not in the traditional sense, as they would have made a profit of $891.49 if they had bet $100 against the Reds through all of his starts in 2018.

Is another OVER in store for the Indians and Reds?

Lastly, the Reds have gone UNDER tonight’s Sportsbook total of 9 runs in just three of Bailey’s eight home starts in 2018.
