Jose Berrios of the Minnesota Twins pitches against the Baltimore Orioles

Berrios Returns Home, Set To Make History In Puerto Rico

Jose Berrios grew up less than 30 minutes away from Hiram Bithorn Stadium in San Juan, Puerto Rico – the site of his start for the Minnesota Twins on Wednesday. Berrios, who owns a 2.18 ERA and a 0.63 WHIP this season, will become the first Puerto Rican MLB player to throw a pitch in his homeland since Javier Vazquez took the bump for the Montreal Expos in 2003.

SHARK BITES
  • Carlos Carrasco had a 0.92 ERA and a 30/5 K/BB ratio in 3 starts against the Twins last season.
  • The total has gone UNDER in 10 of the Indians’ last 12 games against the Twins.
  • Brian Dozier is 5-for-26 with 3 HRs and 7 RBIs in his career vs Carlos Carrasco.

Berrios will be tasked with limiting the Cleveland Indians, who have struggled at the plate this season. The Tribe are slashing a collective .208/.284/.355 this season and sit 23rd in the MLB in runs scored.

Luckily for the Indians, Cleveland will start Carlos Carrasco on the bump in this one. Carrasco struggled in his first start of the season but has since allowed just three earned runs in 15.0 innings of work while racking up more strikeouts (10) than hits allowed (8). In addition, Carrasco dominated the Twins last season, as the right-hander posted a 0.92 ERA with 30 Ks to 5 BBs in three starts against Minny.
