Long Ball Could Continue To Dictate Indians-Rangers Series

The series opener between the Cleveland Indians and Texas Rangers was supposed to be a pitchers duel but it ultimately ended up being all about the home run. The Tribe and Rangers combined for five home runs in an 8-5 Cleveland victory Monday. Carlos Gomez had the biggest moonshot, as the Rangers center-fielder took Corey Kluber’s offering for a 451-foot ride.

  • The Indians are 3-7 SU in their last 10 games as favorites against the Rangers.
  • The Indians are 7-0 SU in their last 7 games as a moneyline favorite of -149 or less.

Carlos Carrasco dealt with injuries last season and only pitched 146.1 innings across 25 appearances. Fellow Venezuelan Martin Perez gets the start for the Rangers. Perez entered last season coming off Tommy John surgery to post career highs in starts, innings pitched and strikeouts. Perez enjoyed pitching in Arlington last season with the lefty posting a 3.24 ERA at home in 2016, which was the seventh-best in the American League.
