Let's finish off the week with two fun MLB expert picks for today's Friday slate!
I had to find a wager on tonight's electric pitching matchup between Paul Skenes and Logan Gilbert, taking the low UNDER in Pirates vs Mariners.
Here are my two MLB picks for August 16th:

MLB Expert Pick Today: Phillies -1.5 (-126) vs Nats
Phillies vs Nationals Odds -- Game Time 6:41 p.m. ET
The Phillies are 6-1 against the Nationals this year, covering the -1.5 runline in five of those six wins. In last night’s game, they won 13-3.
Now, the Phillies have the chance to snag another win and runline cover with Aaron Nola on the mound.
I know the Phillies have (somehow) lost Nola’s last five outings. But, he still has a 3.60 ERA on the season and the Phils have covered -1.5 in seven of Nola’s last eight wins. So, when he wins, the runline is safe.
Nola also carved current Nationals batter — to a pretty crazy degree. In 72 career at-bats against the Phillies’ righty, Washington hitters have just 12 hits. They’re hitting .167 with a .409 OPS. On the other side, Partick Corbin starts for Washington…. we all know what that means: FADE!

MLB Expert Pick Today: Mariners vs Pirates UNDER 6.5 (+102)
Mariners vs Pirates Odds - Game Time: 6:41 pm ET
If you want to have any fun, you’ll bet this UNDER with me. I initially saw the line at UNDER 7 (-115), but it’s been bet down to UNDER 6.5 (+102).
The books are taunting us, begging bettors to take the OVER on a Skenes/Gilbert start. I’m not that easily baited.
Skenes has allowed over two runs just once in his last 11 outings. His starts have gone UNDER 6.5 runs in seven of those 11.
Gilbert has allowed more than two runs in three of his last 10 outings. The UNDER 6.5 has hit in seven of those 11, too.
The Pirates and Mariners’ offences both rank bottom-10 in baseball over the last month (per OPS), so I’m very comfortable taking this UNDER.
