MLB Expert Picks For Today: Justin Steele Dominates Giants

It's winning time. Let's start the week off with a few victorious MLB expert picks. I'm honing in on the two late games for this one, so you can wake up to some winners tomorrow.

Here are my MLB expert picks for June 24th, 2024:

MLB Expert Picks: June 24th, 2024

You can jump directly to today's picks here:

Pick 1: Cubs (+110) vs Giants

Matchup Preview - Game Time: 9:46 pm ET

With a weird scheduling quirk, Justin Steele will make two-straight starts against the Giants. Last week, he pitched 6.2 innings, allowing just two earned runs in a Chicago win.

That Steele success over SF is nothing new, too. Over his last three starts against the Giants, Steele has allowed just 2 earned runs while striking out 26 batters to just 4 walks. There's a clear dominance from the Cubs starter when he faces San Francisco, and I expect that to show up again tonight.

Over the last two weeks, the Cubs' and Giants' offenses rank out almost the exact same. They're 20th and 21st, respectively, in team OPS. So, with a pitching edge to Chicago I'm going to side with the plus-money Cubs.

Pick 2: Padres -1.5 (+102) vs Nationals

Matchup Preview - Game Time: 9:41 pm ET

Matt Waldron may quietly be the hottest pitcher in baseball. The Padres starter hasn't allowed more than two earned runs in a start since May 5th, rattling off eight-straight starts of success to lower his ERA from 5.82 to 3.46 on the season. In June, so far, Waldron has a 1.71 ERA. He's also 5-2 in his last seven outings.

On the flip side, Washington's Patrick Corbin kinda sucks. Corbin has just one quality start in his last eight outings and rocks a 5.60 ERA on the year. He's 1-7 on the season. He's also been rocked by active Padres hitters in his career. Current San Diego bats have a .351 average and .918 OPS off Corbin in 74 collective at-bats.

One guy in particular who rocks Corbin is Padres infield Ha-Seong Kim. The shortstop has four hits and five RBI in 11 career at-bats against Corbin, good for a 1.144 OPS. Kim is +175 to record an RBI tonight.
