’Stros and Wins Have Been Birds of a Feather When Peacock Takes the Hill

Doing what’s been nearly impossible this year, the Diamondbacks shut out the Astros in their interleague opener, dealing the AL West leaders a sixth loss in their last seven games. The blank was just the fifth for Houston this season but marked the sixth consecutive game in which the ’Stros and their opponents have failed to go OVER the Vegas total.

SHARK BITES
  • The Diamondbacks are 1-3 SU in their last 4 games during the afternoon.
  • The Astros are 7-1 SU in their last 8 games with Brad Peacock as the starting pitcher.
  • The total has gone UNDER in 14 of the Diamondbacks’ last 20 games after a win.

Taking the rock for their respective teams in this afternoon’s lone game it will be Brad Peacock (10-1, 3.07 ERA) and Anthony Banda (1-2, 4.60 ERA). The former has been one of the American League’s best starters this season and before his last start, Peacock’s team had won eight straight games which he had started.

Sporting a 6-0 record and 2.64 ERA in 12 appearances (seven starts) away from H-Town, Peacock has been showing his true colors on the road. His high strikeout rate makes him an attractive fantasy target tonight against one of the most free-swinging teams in baseball.

Making just three starts since coming up from a rough stint in Triple-A, Banda has been pretty bland-a in his limited MLB action after posting a 5.38 ERA through 107 innings of work in the minors.

Banda’s splits, which have seen the lefty torched at home in two starts at Chase Field (6.52 ERA), contribute to confidence in the Astros on the road.
