Jose Altuve of the Houston Astros looks on against the Baltimore Orioles at Minute Maid Park

Astros Have Been Making Easy Work Of The Twins

The Houston Astros have flat-out dominated the Minnesota Twins, as the reigning World Series champions have won 10 of the last 13 matchups between the two teams while outscoring the Twins 109-54. It was much of the same when the Astros and Twins opened their three-game series on Monday, with the Astros cruising to an easy 2-0 victory. Will the ’Stros continue their dominant ways vs the Twins or can Minny get some momentum back Tuesday?

SHARK BITES
  • Brian McCann has slashed .464/.531/.964 with 3 HRs and 10 RBIs in 29 career at-bats vs Jake Odorizzi.
  • The Astros are 7-0 SU and ATS in their last 7 games on the road against the Twins.
  • Jake Odorizzi has a 0.47 ERA and a 0.789 WHIP in 3 career starts against the Astros.

Dallas Keuchel, who will take to the mound for the Astros on Tuesday, has been solid though underwhelming through his first two starts of the season. Keuchel has surrendered 12 hits and five runs in 11.0 innings of work while throwing seven strikeouts to five walks. The former Cy Young Sportsbook will also be facing a Twins lineup that is slashing .283/.353/.413 against left-handed pitchers this season.

The Twins will start Jake Odorizzi, who has looked great this season when the weather has not been in his way. The righty struggled with control in his most recent start thanks to snowy and windy conditions but Odorizzi looked untouchable during his first start of the season in perfect conditions. Weather is not expected to be a big factor in this game – aside from the frigid temperatures – which means Twins fans are expecting Odorizzi to revert back to his season opener level of play.
