Houston’s Offense Has Dried Up In Baltimore

The Astros looked sharp in a three-game sweep against the Tampa Bay Rays earlier this week, shutting the Rays out twice and outscoring them 14-2 during the 3-0 SU run. Against the Orioles, it has been the Astros getting shut out twice with a 2-0 loss on Thursday and a 6-0 loss on Friday.

Yordan Alvarez has gone just 1-for-8 (.125) with no runs or RBI over his last three games. Prior to this short slump, Alvarez was 15-for-31 (.484) with six home runs, 13 runs and 12 RBI in his previous eight games, leading Houston to a 7-1 SU record over that stretch.

Baltimore Has Won Three Straight With A Playoff Spot Still In Reach

The Orioles broke out of a 1-4 SU slump with an 8-1 win over Detroit on Wednesday, and have carried the momentum of that win into back-to-back shutout wins over the Astros. Baltimore has closed the gap to three games on the Seattle Mariners for the final wild card spot in the American League with 12 games left to go.

Adley Rutschman went 3-for-3 with a home run, two runs and two RBI in Thursday’s 6-0 win. Rutschman is batting .297 in September with four home runs and 15 RBI this month.

Astros vs Orioles Picks & Insights

Astros: Keys To Victory

The Astros are 7-1 in Framber Valdez’s last eight trips to the mound. Valdez will almost certainly pitch well, so it will be up to Houston’s offense to break out of its current slump to lead the club to an Astros vs Orioles prediction win.

Orioles: Keys To Victory

Tyler Wells is very unlikely to outpitch Framber Valdez. But if he can at least give the Orioles four or five solid innings, it would put Baltimore in a much better position to cash in as an Astros vs Orioles pick on Saturday night.
