Kyle Tucker’s two-run home run in the top of the third inning gave the Astros a 5-1 lead in Game 3. That lead didn’t last long, however, as the Astros allowed five runs in the bottom of the third. Houston gave up three more runs (fueled by some controversial baserunning by Yasmani Grandal) in the bottom of the fourth inning and went on to lose the game 12-6.
With the loss, Houston fell to 0-5 in its last five games on the road. The Astros were significantly better at home during the regular season with a 51-30 record compared to a 44-37 record away from Houston.

The White Sox didn’t have any extra-base hits during the first two games of this series; all 20 of their hits were singles. That finally changed Sunday night as the team hit two doubles and two home runs. Leury Garcia went 2-for-5 with a double, a home run and four RBIs while Yasmani Grandal hit a two-run home run in addition to his key baserunning play that prevented an out in a 6-6 game.
Chicago’s offense and bullpen need some help from Carlos Rodon in this game. White Sox starters have combined to pitch only 9.2 innings so far in this series with an 11.17 ERA and a 2.17 WHIP. This unit had a 3.57 ERA and a 1.17 WHIP during the regular season, which were both best in the American League.
How Houston Will Win
Houston just needs to keep crushing the ball. The Astros have scored six runs or more in each of their last six games, averaging 7.3 runs per game over that stretch. That type of production will make the Astros awfully tough to beat on Monday night.
How Chicago Will Win
Carlos Rodon has allowed two earned runs or less in each of his last six starts. It will be tough for him to keep that streak going against this red-hot Astros offense, but even a five- or six-inning effort allowing only three or four runs would put Chicago’s offense in great position to force a Game 5.
