Sportsbook Odds Analysis

The Dodgers opened as -174 favorites in this matchup, but early bettors jumped on the Cubs as home underdogs to drive the line down to Los Angeles -156. Chicago is now going off at +146 to pull off an upset while the total has settled in at 7.5 runs since Sportsbook at 8 runs. This will be Chicago’s 11th straight game as a betting underdog.

Starting Pitchers Analysis

Walker Buehler had his worst start of the season in his last trip to the mound as he allowed seven hits and five earned runs over 6.1 innings in a 6-5 loss to the Cincinnati Reds. Even after that rough outing, Buehler still owns a 3.16 ERA and a 0.96 WHIP with 31 strikeouts in 31.1 innings this season.

Adbert Alzolay picked up his first win of the season last Thursday night in a 9-3 victory over the Atlanta Braves. Alzolay pitched six innings and allowed only four hits and two runs while striking out six to lower his ERA to 4.71 and his WHIP to a tidy 0.90. The 26-year-old posted a 2.95 ERA and a 1.17 WHIP in 21.1 innings pitched in 2020.

Los Angeles News & Notes

The Dodgers opened the 2021 season with a 13-2 record and appeared to be well on their way to another stress-free regular season. Since then, however, Los Angeles is just 4-12 over its last 16 games with series losses to the San Diego Padres, Cincinnati Reds, Milwaukee Brewers and now the Cubs. Los Angeles managed to avoid sweeps in each of its last three series and will need a win on Wednesday to do the same in Chicago.

This slump does not fall on any one player, but one player the Dodgers would love to see more from is Mookie Betts. Betts has been one of the best hitters in baseball in recent years but has been underperforming in 2021 with a .263 batting average and only three home runs through his first 24 games.

Chicago News & Notes

The Cubs were faced with the tall task of dealing with both Clayton Kershaw and Trevor Bauer in Tuesday’s doubleheader. They passed the test with flying colors, chasing Kershaw from the first game in just one inning with a four-run Sportsbook frame and then forcing Bauer out of the second after 4.1 innings pitched. David Bote went 1-for-3 in the first game with three RBIs and won the second game with a walk-off hit in the bottom of the ninth.

Chicago is now 4-2 over its last six games despite being an underdog in all six. Kris Bryant is enjoying a fantastic 2021 campaign thus far with 23 runs, nine home runs, 22 RBIs and a .320 batting average through his first 28 games.

Betting Pick: Chicago +146

Something isn’t right with the Dodgers right now and the Cubs are playing with a ton of confidence. Los Angeles should be favored with Buehler on the mound, but at this price, the value is on the Cubs.
