Los Angeles Looks To Snap 2-Game Losing Streak vs Colorado

Los Angeles Dodgers vs Colorado Rockies Betting Odds

The Los Angeles Dodgers are 11-3 in their last 14 games against the Colorado Rockies, but in their most recent series at home against the Rockies, the Dodgers went just 1-2 and lost two straight games for just the fourth time in 2020. Los Angeles will try to get back to its winning ways against the Rockies in a four-game road series starting Thursday night in Colorado.

Opening Odds Analysis

The Dodgers opened as -161 road favorites against the Rockies and are currently going off as -153 favorites while Colorado is a +143 underdog to win Thursday’s series opener. The total has remained steady at 11.5 runs. The OVER is 7-0-1 in Julio Urias’s last eight starts.

Starting Pitchers Analysis

Julio Urias pitched around four walks to finish his start against the Houston Astros last Saturday with only one earned run allowed over six innings. Urias has respectable enough numbers with a 3-0 record, a 3.53 ERA and a 1.29 WHIP, but he has made it through five innings in only two of his last five starts and the Dodgers are 1-4 as a team over that stretch.

Kyle Freeland’s season line looks a lot like Urias’s with a 3.54 ERA and a 1.32 WHIP. Like Urias, Freeland hasn’t led his team to much success in recent weeks as the Rockies are just 1-5 in Freeland’s last six starts. Freeland is 2-4 with a 4.29 ERA and a 1.50 WHIP in 11 career starts against the Dodgers.

Los Angeles News & Notes

The Dodgers became the first team in the major leagues to lock up a playoff spot, hitting the 50-game mark with a 35-15 record as they defeated the San Diego Padres 7-5 in San Diego. Los Angeles has the best record, team ERA (2.98) and run differential (+102) in baseball.

With only 10 games left in the regular season, all that’s left to do for Los Angeles is to stay healthy and try to lock up an eighth straight NL West Division title. The Dodgers fell short in the World Series in 2017 and 2018 and are still looking for their first World Series championship since 1988. Will this be the year?

Colorado News & Notes

Colorado snapped a seven-game losing streak in August to go 7-5 over its next 12 games, including the series win on the road over the Dodgers to improve to 20-20 on the season. But instead of building off the momentum of back-to-back wins over the World Series favorites, the Rockies have gone just 2-6 over their last eight games and are virtually out of playoff contention at this point with a 22-26 record. They are just 11-23 since opening the season with an 11-3 run.

The Rockies rank 27th in the major leagues with a team ERA of 5.35. But the bigger surprise has been the team’s offensive struggles, scoring only 4.69 runs per game. Colorado is on pace to finish outside of the top 10 in scoring for the first time since 2008.

Betting Pick: Los Angeles -161

It may be worth waiting until the starting lineups for this game are revealed before betting it to make sure that Dave Roberts doesn’t give his starters the day off for clinching a playoff spot. Assuming all systems are a go, the Dodgers shouldn’t have any trouble getting some revenge on the Rockies in this one.
