Clayton Kershaw of the Los Angeles Dodgers pitches against Washington Nationals

Slumping Dodgers Turn To Kershaw For Answers Tuesday

The Los Angeles Dodgers have not exactly looked like the World Series contenders we were all expecting entering the season – especially recently, as the team has won just one of its last seven games. The Dodgers will send ace Clayton Kershaw to the bump to oppose the Arizona Diamondbacks on Tuesday in hopes the southpaw can help get things back on track.

SHARK BITES
  • In 185 total at-bats vs Clayton Kershaw, the current Diamondbacks roster has a collective .184 batting average.
  • The Dodgers are 1-7 SU in their last 8 games at Chase Field.
  • AJ Pollock is 8-for-26 with 5 HRs and 8 RBIs vs the Dodgers this season.

This will be the third time Kershaw faces the Diamondbacks this season, allowing just six hits and three runs in 13.0 innings of work while striking out 18 and walking one in his two previous starts. That being said, Kershaw is coming off an oddly poor outing in his most recent start against the Miami Marlins with the normally in command lefty walking six batters in 5.0 innings.

Matt Koch will make his third start for the Diamondbacks – and just the fifth of his career – on Tuesday. Since replacing an injured Taijuan Walker in the rotation, Koch has posted a 2.25 ERA while holding opponents to a .190 batting average. Koch has only faced the Dodgers once in his three years in the majors – allowing no hits in one inning of relief against them in September 2016.
