Brewers Hoping All-Star Break Gets Them Back to Their Winning Ways

Thanks to the acquisition of Baltimore Orioles star infielder Manny Machado, the Los Angeles Dodgers will have a different look as they enter the stretch run of the MLB season. Machado is expected to make his debut in Dodger blue when Los Angeles travels north to renew acquaintances with the Milwaukee Brewers at Miller Park on Friday. Sportsbooks opened the Dodgers as -131 road favorites with a total of 9.

Hill, Miley set to get the ball

Rich Hill and Wade Miley will get the start for the Dodgers and Brewers, respectively. Hill (2-4, 4.55 ERA) has fared well in his last three starts (3.38 ERA, 22 strikeouts in 18 1/3 innings) but the Dodgers have dropped seven of his past 11 trips to the mound. The 38-year-old could be on the verge of losing his spot in the rotation as a result. Hill is 2-1 with a 3.92 ERA in seven career turns vs Milwaukee.

Miley (1-1, 2.38) is set to make his fourth start of the campaign after surrendering three runs and eight hits over 11 1/2 innings in his first three starts, including a setback to the Pittsburgh Pirates on July 12 which saw him cough up two runs and four hits over five frames. That game marked his first outing since May 8 due to an oblique injury. Miley is 3-5 with a 4.16 ERA in 12 career starts and one relief appearance vs the Dodgers.

Can the Brewers turn around their recent slide?

The all-star break couldn’t come fast enough for the Brewers, as Milwaukee entered the break on a six-game losing streak. In that span, they went 1-5 on the runline. The good news for Brewers backers is the club has gone 13-2 SU in its past 15 vs National League West teams, while going 6-1 SU in their past seven games at Miller Park.

Dodgers have been a profitable UNDER wager

Prior to the break, the Dodgers were on a tear for UNDER bettors. In Los Angeles’ past six games, the UNDER 5-1.
