Four-Run Fifth Inning Powers Brewers Win

The Brewers evened up the series at one game apiece on Saturday with a 5-3 win over Philadelphia. The Phillies went out to a 3-0 lead through three innings but the Brewers battled back thanks to a four-run fifth inning. Jace Peterson, Willy Adames and Christian Yelich each hit RBI singles in the inning, with Adames eventually scoring the fourth run after a wild pickoff attempt from Phillies catcher J.T. Realmuto.

Milwaukee has lost just one series this year – its first of the season against the Chicago Cubs. They’ll look to keep their streak going with a win in Sunday’s rubber match against the struggling Phillies.

Wheeler Falls To 0-3 In Phillies Loss

Things were looking good on Saturday as Nick Castellanos knocked in two runs through the first three innings to help the Phillies go up 3-0 early. It all fell apart in the fifth inning, though, as the Brewers put together a five-hit, four-run rally to take a lead which they would not relinquish. Starter Zack Wheeler took the loss and fell to 0-3 after allowing seven hits and four earned runs through five innings.

While Milwaukee hasn’t lost a series since the first few days of the season, Philadelphia hasn’t won one since they took two of three games from the Oakland Athletics in their opening set.

Brewers vs Phillies Pick & Insights

Brewers: Keys To Victory

The Brewers have received some great pitching over their last five games, allowing just 2.4 runs per contest over that span. If Lauer can put up a performance similar to his last one, Milwaukee should take home the series.

Phillies: Keys To Victory

Bryce Harper has had a slow start to the season by his standards with 11 RBI and just two home runs while batting .241. The Phillies have been middle of the pack offensively but if Harper’s bat wakes up they could beat the stingy Brewers.
