MLB Expert Picks For May 30th: Fade The Braves

I was on fire with my MLB expert picks yesterday. I had the Seattle/Houston under that hit by four runs and I had Royals moneyline, where Kansas City won by five. Let's keep that hot streak going into Thursday.

Check out my MLB picks for May 30th:

Pick 1: Twins (-125) vs Royals

Matchup Preview - Game Time: 1:10 pm ET

Yesterday I was on the Royals, but today I'm switching sides.

The big thing for me here is a fade of Kansas City pitcher Brady Singer. Singer has been great this season, pitching to a 2.63 ERA and winning four of his six decisions, but he struggles against the Twins. Against current Minnesota hitters a .297 average and .918 OPS in 118 career at-bats. Guys like Carlos Correa (.938 career OPS vs Singer) and Byron Buxton (1.467 OPS) absolutely dominate against the KC starter. Last year, Singer allowed 10 earned runs in two starts against Minnesota.

I think we're underestimating how hot the Twins have been lately, too. Before a loss to the Royals on Wednesday (which I predicted, because Seth Lugo is nasty), the Twins had won six of their last seven games.

Pick 2: Nationals (+164) vs Braves

Matchup Preview - Game Time: 7:20 pm ET

Since the Braves lost Ronald Acuna Jr. for the season, they're 1-2 with a run differential of -7. Atlanta's offense, in general, hasn't been going very hard these days. The Braves have scored the fourth-fewest runs per game in May (3.52), ahead of just the Diamondbacks, Reds, and White Sox.

The Braves also face Nats starter Trevor Williams, who has been pretty damn good this year. Williams rarely pitches deep into games, but he owns a 2.29 ERA on the season and is good for five solid innings. Williams also won both of his outings against the Braves last year (who were the best offense in baseball in 2023).

Guys like Adam Duvall (4/14) and Austin Riley (2/15) really struggle historically against Williams, if you're looking for Atlanta bats to fade on the player props.
