Mets Looking to Avoid Series Sweep Against NL East-Leading Braves

After winning 15 of 16 games, the New York Mets have dropped three in a row and will look to avoid a sweep at the hands of the NL East-leading Atlanta Braves in the series finale tonight.

Standout Stats

- Sportsbooks opened the Braves as -121 home favorites with a total of 10.

- Marcus Stroman will get the start for the Mets. Stroman (6-11, 3.20 ERA) has produced mix results since coming to New York from Toronto at the trade deadline. Stroman has collected a pair of no-decisions in his first two starts in a Mets uniform but is 2-0 in two career starts against Atlanta.

- Julio Teheran will counter for the Braves. Teheran (7-7, 3.35) has allowed two earned runs or fewer 15 times in 18 outings since May 5 while pitching to a 2.56 ERA. The hurler held Miami to one run on five hits with one walk and seven strikeouts across seven innings to pick up the win last Friday.

- Braves outfielder Ender Inciarte went 2-for-3 with two RBI in Wednesday’s 6-4 victory over the Mets to raise his average to .328 with 15 runs scored in 18 games since Nick Markakis was sidelined with a wrist injury.

- The Braves have been going UNDER at home with ease. In Atlanta’s last 11 contests at SunTrust Park, the UNDER is 8-2-1.

- New York’s struggles in Atlanta are well-documented. The Mets are 1-6 SU in their last seven trips to SunTrust Park.

My Best Bet for Mets-Braves

Braves Moneyline

The Mets’ recent torrid stretch has been one of the most interesting storylines in the 2018 MLB season, but New York simply hasn’t looked like the same team against the Braves in this series. While I think Stroman will end up being an impact player down the stretch, he’s still getting accustomed to his surroundings, and the jump from the American League to the National League is not an easy one.

Stroman gave up three runs on seven hits in 4 1/3 innings in his lone road start for the Mets and I think the Braves are going to give him a run for his money in this one. The Braves have had the Mets’ number in Georgia and are in a good spot to continue that dominance tonight.

The Mets are 1-6 SU in their last seven games in Atlanta. The UNDER is 8-2-1 in the Braves' last 11 home games.home The Braves are 6-2 in Julio Teheran's last eight starts.home
