Orioles vs Red Sox Sportsbook Odds Analysis

The New York Yankees opened as slight favorites for the first of three meetings this weekend. The Pinstripes lead the season series 6-4, outscoring Boston 73-46, including 27-3 in the last two games. The OVER opened at 9.5. If history is any indication, there will be lots of runs scored as the total has gone OVER in the last seven meetings.

Starting Pitchers

Domingo German gets the ball for the Yankees. He's in search of his second win of the season in just his fifth start. German, who has an E.R.A. just north of five, missed most of the season with a shoulder injury. He is 2-2 in eight career starts vs. the Red Sox.

Boston counters with Nathan Eovaldi who is 5-3 with a 4.23 E.R.A. This marks his third start vs. the Yankees this season. He has yet to record a decision against them and has given up three earned runs in each of the first two contests.

Judge Continues Historic Season

Despite having a 10-game lead in the American League East, New York has had trouble picking up wins in recent weeks. They’ve lost two straight and seven of their last eight games.

Their offense has been hit or miss. In their last five contests, they scored nine runs twice, but have collected four hits or less in the other three games.

But don't tell that to Aaron Judge. He has two home runs and six RBI in his last four games and is currently on a six-game hit streak. His 45 home runs rank first in the majors and he remains on pace to break the single season American League home record of 61 held by Roger Maris. Judge remains the favorite to win the A.L. MVP at -500.

Red Sox Pitching Falters In Fourth Straight Loss

Boston picked up a much needed win Thursday night. Their 4-3 victory over Baltimore snapped a four-game losing skid. In fact, the last month has been one to forget for the Red Sox. They woke up on July 12th seven games above .500. Since then, they have gone 8-18 and are now three games under that mark and sit 4.5 games back of Tampa Bay for the final playoff spot.

Rafael Devers and Xander Bogaerts continue to lead this team, but it’s a pair of veteran acquisitions they may need to lean on down the stretch. Eric Hosmer made his mark with his new club last night by driving in the game-winning run, while Tommy Pham has been red hot of late going 6-for-19 with three home runs in his last four games.

Yankees: Keys To Victory

DJ LeMahieu. The Yankees lead-off hitter is too good to be hitless in his last 11 at-bats. But this matchup may be just what he needs. LeMahieu has picked up multiple hits in four of his last six games against the Red Sox and is 15-for-42 (.357 average) in his career vs. Eovaldi.

Red Sox: Keys to Victory

Avoid the long ball. Boston gave up seven home runs in their last series with the Yankees. New York has hit 190 on the season, tops in baseball, while Boston pitching is in the bottom third of the league in home runs allowed. If they can contain Judge and company, then betting the home dog when making your Yankees vs. Red Sox pick, may be the smart play.
