Yankees vs Mariners Sportsbook Odds

Sportsbook Odds

The Yankees opened as the road favorite at -115 on the moneyline with the Mariners getting +105 at home. The total was set at nine runs with the OVER going 6-3 in New York’s last nine games and 4-2 in Seattle’s last six outings. New York has had success against Seattle at T-Mobile Park with five wins in the last six meetings – a good reason to side with the visitors in your Yankees vs Mariners prediction.

Starting Pitchers

Logan Gilbert (10-4) will aim to pick up his first win in six starts when he takes the mound for Seattle. Gilbert last pitched on August 2 against the Yankees where he was rocked for seven hits and six earned runs in 5.1 innings. The southpaw owns a 3.09 ERA and a 1.18 WHIP through 128.1 innings this season.

It will be a battle of 10-win pitchers as Jameson Taillon (10-2) is set to counter for New York. Taillon was just as poor as Gilbert in that contest on August 2 as he surrendered six earned runs over 4.2 innings against the Mariners. The right-hander has a 3.96 ERA and a 1.16 WHIP through 113.2 innings of work.

Yankees Lose Third Straight To Cardinals

The Yankees dropped their third straight game to the St. Louis Cardinals as they fell 12- 9 on Sunday. New York took a 4-1 lead in the second thanks to a two-run single from Aaron Judge, but they blew the cushion immediately as St. Louis scored five runs in the bottom half of the inning. Judge tied it up in the fifth with a two-run homer but the Cardinals replied with three runs again and never looked back.

The five-game skid marks the longest losing streak of the season for the Yankees, who had not lost more than three straight previously. New York is now 6-11 in the second half, though they still own a 9.5-game lead over the Toronto Blue Jays for top spot in the AL East. Judge has been one of the lone bright spots of late with 24 RBI and nine homers in 14 games since the break.

Winker’s Grand Slam Helps Mariners Earn Series Split

The Mariners earned a series split against the Los Angeles Angels on Sunday as they won the finale 6-3. After Eugenio Suarez opened the scoring with an RBI double in the first inning, Jesse Winker hit a grand slam in the third to give Seattle a commanding 5-0 that they wouldn’t relinquish.

While Seattle owns one of the best team ERAs in the majors this season at 3.67 (6th), they have seen their pitching slip a bit in the second half as the Mariners are giving up 4.59 runs per game in 17 contests since the All-Star break. Seattle is clinging onto the third Wild Card spot in the American League, but they’ll need to tighten up down the stretch if they’re going to hold on.

Yankees vs Mariners Pick & Insights

Yankees: Keys To Victory

The Yankees got to Gilbert in a big way just last week as they rocked him for three homers and six runs. With Judge swinging a scorching hot bat, New York should be able put up some big numbers against Seattle once again. This time, they’ll just need Taillon to lock things down on his end.

Mariners: Keys To Victory

The Mariners likely won’t be able to compete with the Yankees’ offense, but their pitching is certainly on par. Prior to his last start against New York, Gilbert hadn’t allowed more than four earned runs in a game so it’s more likely than not that the right-hander has a bounce-back performance.
