It’s too soon to make the call on who won the trade deadline but the Yankees are definitely in the conversation. Sonny Gray, undoubtedly New York’s biggest acquisition, is set to make his first start in pinstripes tonight when he and the Yanks take on the defending American League champs in Cleveland.
Gray’s excellent month of July in which he posted a 3-1 record to go along with a 1.48 ERA showed what he’s truly capable of. In his last three starts with the A’s, the newly minted Yank allowed just two earned runs in 18.1 innings of work.
As for the Tribe, they’ll call upon Corey Kluber (8-3, 2.90 ERA) in the contest and they’ll be favored to win. The all-star righty has been terrific since coming off the shelf at the start of June, posting quality starts in all but two of his 11 outings in that time frame.
Finding a ton of success against the Yankees over the course of his career, Kluber has not dropped a decision against them since 2013 and current pinstripers own a collective .184 batting average against the Indians ace.
Picking a Sportsbook tonight is tough if both pitchers have their best stuff so you may want to have a look at a totals bet. A quick glance at the trends will show you that eight of the Yankees’ last 10 road games have stayed UNDER and given tonight’s total opened at a fairly lofty 8.5, that play is certainly worth consideration.
