Our NRFI picks are locked and loaded today, beginning with a NRFI play between the Phillies and Twins. After that, we're counting on Paul Skenes to help deliver NRFI in the Cardinals-Pirates game
Here are our NRFI picks for today:
NRFI Pick Today: Phillies vs Twins (-115)
Philadelphia vs Minnesota Odds - Game Time: 7:40 pm ET
We saw a YRFI in this contest yesterday, but I'll pick against each club's strong first-inning offense in favor of key pitching matchups.
For example, NL Cy Young co-favorite Zack Wheeler takes the ball Tuesday with an impeccable 17-2 NRFI record. Need more proof? That boils down to a 0.95 ERA in 19 starts. He's allowed just 11 hits in 73 plate appearances (.409 OPS). That's as good as it gets for NRFI support, and it's nice to see our second starter follow along similar lines.
Simeon Woods Richardson (15-1 NRFI) is just as slick, allowing nine hits in 61 plate appearances. His ERA is slightly higher at 2.25, but it's impossible to argue with him holding opposing hitters to a .464 OPS.
Sometimes, the most obvious play is the best play. When two of baseball's best NRFI pitchers meet, you've got to play the NRFI.
NRFI Pick Today: Cardinals vs Pirates (-115)
St. Louis vs Pittsburgh Odds - Game Time: 6:40 pm ET
Paul Skenes (8-3 NRFI) is a machine, twirling a 1.14 ERA over his last six starts. During that span, he owns a 4-2 NRFI record. All Skenes' NRFI bids are helped by the Bucs' brutal first-inning offense which bats .207 with a weak .275 OBP.
While Lance Lynn (12-7 NRFI) isn't an ace at this here NRFI game, he's well-versed in stymieing the Pirates batting order. Active Pittsburgh hitters are batting just .238 with a .610 OPS against Lynn. All he needs is a smooth pass through the first frame and we're home free.
