My NRFI picks for today feature a NRFI play in the Mariners and Pirates game as Paul Skenes faces Logan Gilbert (cha-ching). After that, we're gunning for some plus money in a Jays-Cubs NRFI.
NRFI Pick Today: Mariners vs Pirates (-135)
Mariners vs Pirates Odds -- Game Time 6:40 p.m. ET
Um, chalk much? If you thought a meeting between the M's (72-50 NRFI) and Pirates (75-45 NRFI) wasn't sweet enough, then the pitching matchups might do you in. Seattle and Pittsburgh possess two of the worst first-inning offenses in baseball, making them reliable NRFI bets. And now with Paul Skenes (11-4 NRFI) and Logan Gilbert (21-3 NRFI) on the hill, nothing is stopping this bet.

Gilbert is a monster in the first frame, holding opponents to a .484 OPS with 27 strikeouts in 24 innings. He will carve through the Bucs Friday, mark my words. I'm less sweet on Skenes, who allowed a YRFI his last time out, but, overall, he's been a reliable NRFI bet. While opponents banged Skenes for a homer last outing, he's been otherwise money, striking out 22 hitters in 15 innings with just one walk allowed and a .618 opponent OPS.
NRFI Pick Today: Blue Jays vs Cubs (+115)
Blue Jays vs Cubs Odds -- Game Time 2:20 p.m. ET
The plus-money value sets the table for this NRFI bet, as both clubs have been heavy on quiet first innings lately. Toronto had a wicked stretch of YRFIs in July, but that has since cooled, and the Cubs (76-46 NRFI) remain one of baseball's most consistent NRFI bets.

Yariel Rodriguez (9-3 NRFI) has gone into a scramble mode in a few of his starts, but the Blue Jays righty simmered down lately and has delivered consecutive NRFIs. Meanwhile, soft-thrower Kyle Hendricks is in the same boat. He got knocked around one month ago and turned the page, delivering five consecutive NRFI outings.
It's crazy you can get this NRFI for plus money, so drop a unit or two on it.
