NRFI Picks Today: Nationals vs Phillies Is Worth A Bet

My NRFI picks for today feature a surefire NRFI pick on the Mariners and Tigers, plus another NRFI bet for the Phillies vs Nationals, where Zack Wheeler takes the hill.

NRFI Pick Today: Mariners vs Tigers (-115)

Mariners vs Tigers Odds -- Game Time 1:10 p.m. ET

Weirdly, the Tigers are a decent YRFI club at 61-60 YRFI, but a few factors are helping us in the NRFI outcome in this contest. Firstly, The M's are an all-time NRFI bet this season, rocking a 72-49 NRFI record while ranking 28th in MLB with a .669 OPS. The Mariners pitching staff normally shreds opposing hitters, and Thursday's starter, Bryce Miller (19-4 NRFI), holds opponents to a .215 BA and a .656 OPS in the first inning.

On the other end, the Tigers counter with Alex Faedo (4-0 NRFI), an up-and-coming NRFI stud. The righty has cooked up four shutout innings, allowing just two hits during that span. The Tigers offense also has generated a .672 OPS in the first inning over the last two weeks, which suggests the club is headed in the wrong direction.

NRFI Pick Today: Nationals vs Phillies (-115)

Nationals vs Phillies Odds -- Game Time 6:40 p.m. ET

Zack Wheeler (19-4 NRFI) is the man. He kicked off his season 13-0 NRFI, and he's in a great spot to close out his 20th NRFI outcome of the season, as Washington's first-inning offense ranks among the worst in baseball.

The Nationals (75-46 NRFI) bat just .230 in the first inning, relying heavily on CJ Abrams, who hasn't quite been able to carry the load since Lane Thomas and Jesse Winker left via trade at the end of July. On top of that, rookie starter Mitchell Parker owns a 16-5 NRFI record and has yielded just 19 hits in the first inning. He's been beaten up with singles before, but opponents slug just .295 off Parker in the first inning. That'll be notable, as Philly will send the likes of Bryce Harper and Kyle Schwarber to the dish in the first inning.
