Opening Odds Analysis

This game opened as a virtual pick’em between the Braves and Phillies, but Philadelphia has settled in as a small favorite of -115 on the road while Atlanta is going off at -105 at home. The total has remained steady at eight runs for this matchup. The OVER is 6-1 in Atlanta’s last seven home games.

Starting Pitchers Analysis

Aaron Nola pitched six innings in a 6-5 win over the Milwaukee Brewers in his last trip to the mound and allowed five hits and one earned run while striking out 10 batters. It was the second time this season that Nola has struck out 10, bringing his total punchouts to 49 in 43.2 innings this season. Nola carries an impressive 2.89 ERA and 0.98 WHIP through his first seven starts in 2021.

Huascar Ynoa is enjoying a breakout season so far in 2021 with a 2.36 ERA and a 0.90 WHIP through his first seven starts. Ynoa has not allowed an earned run in either of his last two outings, pitching seven innings against the Washington Nationals in a 6-1 Braves win and 5.1 scoreless innings in a 10-0 win over the Chicago Cubs.

Philadelphia News & Notes

J.T. Realmuto has gone 5-for-10 so far in this series with three runs, one home run, and three RBI. The Phillies coasted to an easy 12-2 win on Friday and looked to be on their way to another big game when they jumped out to a 3-0 lead after two innings on Saturday. But in the end, Philadelphia would eventually blow that three-run lead and two more leads en route to an 8-7 loss.

With the loss, the Phillies dropped to 5-10 on the road in 2021. Philadelphia is 18-16 thanks to a fantastic 13-6 record at home, but improving on the team’s road record is going to be essential for the Phillies in what figures to be a very competitive race for the National League East crown.

Atlanta News & Notes

The Braves clawed their way back from down 3-0 to force extra innings on Saturday night. Atlanta erased a one-run Philadelphia lead in the bottom of the 11th inning with a run and then produced a four-run frame in the bottom of the 12th inning to win the game after the Phillies had opened up a 7-4 lead in the top of the inning. Pablo Sandoval hit a pinch-hit home run in the bottom of the ninth to send the game to extra innings and Ehire Adrianza got the game-winning hit on his third hit of the day.

Atlanta is now 4-1 over its last five games since going 0-4 over its previous four games. The Braves are having a rough year on the mound this season with a team ERA of 4.65 that ranks 24th in the majors.

Betting Pick: UNDER 8 runs

The first two games of this series have produced plenty of runs, but that trend should come to an end with Aaron Nola and Huascar Ynoa on the hill.
