San Diego struggles with runners in scoring position

YRFI/NRFI Picks For Today: Padres Are YRFI Cheat Code

Wake up MLB bettors, we've got Y/NRFI picks to hit. Instant MLB action is the way to go these days, so follow my best bets and trends ahead of a good day for baseball.

Here are my two Y/NRFI picks for Monday, June 17:

Pick 1: Padres vs Phillies: Yes run First inning (-125)

Matchup Preview - Game Time: 6:40 pm ET

The Phillies went from a team I could count on for strong pitching and a NRFI to a club that lights up the scoreboard in the game's first frame. Philadelphia has now participated in three straight YRFI hits, pushing the club's record to a more even 35-36 YRFI.

Thankfully, we have a ringer for Monday's frame. Padres starter Randy Vasquez is our guy. If you see him on the hill, be sure to be a YRFI. The right-hander has allowed 16 hits in eight innings, adding to his 6.75 first-inning ERA. All told, the Padres are 6-2 YRFI when Vasquez goes and 43-32 YRFI overall.

So, with the Phils hot and Vasquez as vulnerable as ever, we can bet on a run in the first inning Monday.

Pick 2: Red Sox vs Blue Jays: yes Run First Inning (+100)

Matchup Preview - Game Time: 7:07 pm ET

I profiled this contest for Monday's expert picks slate, and I'll keep my themes consistent for this game: Yusei Kikuchi should come with a warning label. The left-hander owns a 5.12 ERA over his last four starts, opponents own a .841 OPS in the first inning, and we saw Kikuchi walk four batters in his last start. Coincidentally, today is also Kikuchi's birthday (happs, my guy), but I'm still fading.

Nick Pivetta is no saint on the Red Sox's end either. While he is 3-6 YRFI this season, he owns a 7.00 ERA in the first frame, including three homers allowed. It's a perfect storm of YRFI flavor, and we're lucky enough to get this bet at even money.
