I'm targeting some specific batter vs pitcher matchups for my Tuesday MLB player props.
Jorge Soler mashes against his opposing pitcher tonight while the Rays lineup struggles against a specific Royals pitcher. Let's hone in on those matchups with my two MLB player props for July 2nd:
July 2nd MLB Hit Prop: Jorge Soler Over 1.5 Total Bases (Even)
Giants vs Braves Matchup Preview - Game Time: 7:20 pm ET
Jorge Soler is one of the streakiest players in baseball, and I think we're catching him heating up. The Giants DH has six hits and three RBI in his last four games. In the last five games, he's raised his season OPS from .687 to .709.
Now, he gets an opportunity to really get hot. Soler and the Giants face off against Braves pitcher Reynaldo Lopez. For most of San Francisco's bats, tonight's gonna be a struggle as Lopez has a 1.70 ERA on the season without allowing more than two earned runs in his last eight outings.
But for Soler, this is a great matchup. The Giants slugger has 12 hits off Lopez in 19 career at-bats, bashing three homers too. Soler has a 1.930 OPS off Lopez lifetime.
July 2nd MLB Hit Prop: Brady Singer Under 2.5 ER Allowed (-155)
Rays vs Royals Matchup Preview - Game Time: 8:10 pm ET
Brady Singer is quietly having a Cy Young-type season. The Royals righty has a 3.12 ERA on the year, striking out 85 batters to just 26 walks. In his last seven starts, he's allowed over 2.5 earned runs just twice. He's made 16 starts all season, allowing over 2.5 runs just four times.
Another big factor here is Singer's success against the Rays. Current Tampa Bay hitters have just a .137 career average and .526 OPS off the Royals starter in 73 career at-bats. Guys like Isaac Paredes and Brandon Lowe, in particular, have been brutal against Singer in the past.
